D-Scan in AUs instead of km

Just like the subject says, and relatively simple. If you're using your D-Scan, you probably aren't concerned with a range in km. I'd rather not need to do a whole bunch of mental math because my super-advanced FTL spaceship can't handle a unit conversion while I'm trying to find someone to shoot at.

Maybe provide an option-button for AU and km for those that like it the way it is.

Unfortunately, It has. Multiple times. CCP employees rarely play the game themselves, so most of them don't care.

The d-scan needs an additional slider for AU, to be used alongside the manual entry field that can remain in kilometers.

OP, your best bet is to track down the Team Kuromaku thread and add your idea for this there, in the hopes that CCP karkur will see it.

It would fit nicely to space sci-fi setting. Counting in bilions of kilometers is... just weird. AUs are better suitable for in-system distances, and could be nicely visualised (1 AU = distance of Earth from Sun; 8 minutes of travel at the speed of light = ~300.000 km/s).

While you're at it, how about adding a slider as well. And a hotkey for increasing or decreasing the range. I don't want to have to move my had over to the number pad every time I need to change the range -- because I do it a lot.

At least until the whole mechanism is fixed. It's pretty bad.

While you are probably right, I didn't see it in my search. Killjoy. Adding it to the little things thread is a great idea though.

I find it annoying that I have to actually drag the direction slider from it's current position to the position i want it in rather then just clicking the spot on the slider that I want. It turns what should be a 1 step process into 3

hell yes! I'm for the option button - some of my safes on my alt are a certain distance from a certain object (I'm looking at you losec POCO!) and I might want to d-scan it

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

because D-scan is in km I learned two useful things:

largest 8 bit number is about 2.1 bil
An AU is roughly 150,000,000 km.

makes me feel like I've wasted a little less of my life.

I want to see logi appear on killmails! (by just repping)  See CSM "reasonable things"

Obviously you've never heard of Band of Brothers...

FYI, changing it to AU instead of kilometers would remove it from use as a precision instrument. I use it fairly often to gather intelligence on precise player locations without decloaking, warping everywhere, or deploying combat probes. measuring distance in KM is essential if I am going to keep using it as such.
