Starmap loads slow and Starmap menu is missing

Opening the starmap is much slower than in Rubicon 1.1 and prior version. After clicking the icon the starmap takes a few seconds to load and it only loads the star system dots. Moving the map with the mouse results in loading the connection lines which do not display until I move the map.
Moreover, I always have to open the map menu by hand - it does not auto-open.
