tempest or maelstrom for lvl4s? (and cheapest place to buy?)

I'm a new player (7m SP) grinding lvl3 missions in a T2 Hurricane trying to make enough money to buy a battleship and do lvl4's. Is the maelstrom worth the extra money and when I do buy my battleship where can I get it for cheapest? Thanks!

Prices vary, not just from location to location, but from day to day - ships are built and marketed by players, and you may occasionally find an insane bargain.

The Tempest and Maelstrom can both be used for missions, but the Maelstrom's defensive bonuses make it worthwhile, in my opinion; the Tempest's more built around speed, while the Maelstrom resembles a brick smokehouse when its shield tank is properly fit. It makes for a more forgiving ship for people to learn gunship L4 missioning.

Maelstrom is definitely worth the investment for L4s. Throw on 1400s, an MJD, a couple of hardeners and a shield booster, jump out to range and start earning back that ISK. Or go with 800s + XLBS + AB + Cap Booster, if you prefer close range.

Someone's already posted a market site link, so check that for the cheapest hull nearest to you. You can buy and fit one for about 240 mill.
