A little under a year ago I posted this platform To save you all from jumpinng back to old posts I will summarize, below.

Since then I have served on the CSM8 and am running again for CSM9.

I have played Eve for enough time to have tried a bit of almost everything. But if you ask me to nail down the style of play I best represent and identify with it would be the Casual Player. The person who has a job, kids, wife, pets and cannot sit at the machine uninterrupted for five hours straight bashing a POS or waiting for a fleet to form. The person who does not want his entire Eve experience to be spreadsheets or clicking to manage PI.

I have spent more than half a year in wormholes, managing the POS there drove me out, in the end, frustration got that bad. I flew with Soco in the south and did manage to get in on fleets now and again but CTA’s don’t always jibe up with a limited time availability. If you are nodding right now at this then you know what I mean and you have experienced the same sort of problems. You are the one I want to represent. I fly incursions for my isk and then blow it in places like the Bomber Bar or RvB Ganked or helping out in contests, donating prizes.

I have been active in the community since 2008. I currently am a regular podcast Podside and occasional guest on Eve Radio. I have a blog that I write in character. I have written for Eon and the Eve Tribune, often doing commentary on the CSM. My twitter handle is @mikeazariah.

In the past year of serving on the CSM I have been an active member attending all of the summit sessions (In person for the Summer summit, remotely for the Winter) and most of the scheduled meetings. I participate in the debates we have on proposed changes offering opinions and asking questions when I felt I did not know enough about the subject. It has been a LOT of work.

and for some reason, I want to do it again.

Eve is not a game of right way and wrong way to play. I heard stories of how things went from null, from wormholes. I talked to people in Faction War and in Dust. Some gave me ideas that I could take further, others just wanted to be heard.

I am NOT here to save one portion of space to the detriment of all of the others. I do not propose to drive x y or z feature through . . . that is not what the CSM does. Oh, there ARE things in the game I would love to see fixed. POS’s and SOV need love, a window in stations so you can look out and see what awaits you. Some sort of automation to save the hardcore industrialists from carpal tunnel syndrome. I’d like to see more Live Events and Lore and some sort of motivator to break some of the growing inertia in nullsec. More reasons to go to lowsec aside from Faction Warfare.

I have never been afraid to voice my opinion and would love to answer any questions that you have though I don’t plan on feeding trolls. This is NOT a contest of antagonism but a choosing of a GROUP of people to represent the players to CCP. We have to be able to work together and we must be able to see concepts and ideas from a variety of different viewpoints to do the best for the game and for the players of Eve. CSM is like a parachute. We soften the landings but we are not wings to take the game to new places. We encourage CCP to jump, knowing we will help.

I don’t have a huge alliance backing me nor a dedicated voting block throwing all their votes my way. I need your votes, each and every one of you, to become your representative. Please, when the voting opens, vote for me, Mike Azariah, to be YOUR rep in the CSM. Look back at what I have done in the past year and decide if you want me to continue.

Mike, how do you deal with the immense pressure of the RMT cartels and their agents? Do you fear for your life when representing pubbie interests in the CSM?

Any CSM member who contributed the most last year AND reruns for election will have my 1st vote, plus we talked earlier by evemail.

I like your stance and I hope that common sense will pre-warn any dumb decisions CCP might make, IF they listen ofc Blink

One question if a feature or iteration you want to see done, but gets side stepped on by another one, will you vote for or against that new one, even if it's moderately good for the playerbase ? (but you will lose your preferred one)

Eve online is :

A) mining simulator B) glorified chatroom C) spreadsheets online

D) CCP Games Pay to Win at skill leveling, with instant gratification

Mike is funny, intelligent, a good guy to be around, has a really cool perspective on the game, isn't afraid of the work that goes along with being a CSM member, and just generally made the whole process more fun and pleasant by his presence. The CSM should have one mostly-dedicated PvE player on it just to keep pushing CCP on how freakin' BAD PvE is in this game. Mike did a terrific job on that, but also surprises me weekly with his breadth of knowledge of other topics.

I hope that he will be elected to CSM9, and I endorse him for a slot.

Mike is a rarity in Eve - a true gentleman with a vast knowledge across a variety of subjects in the game. It is clear that the other members of CSM8 regard him highly and he will will be near the top of my personal ballot

Just a quick note to say I am very pleased that Mike has decided to run again, and am happy to unreservedly endorse him for re-election. I will have more to say later, but the tl/dr is: he worked hard to help improve the game for everyone.

Honestly? I keep laughing every time I read this question. But lets answer it seriously.

I am not a fan of botting or afk play. I want the PvE experience to change in ways that would indirectly make the coding for botting . . . more difficult. I want less predictability in risk and reward. Oh the balance can stay roughly the same but I don't want cookie cutter missions where I can 'set it and forget it' in an afk ishtar.

Some see this is a hisec issue. Nullbears would prefer that their activities were done quietly and nobody came to visit them in their safety of non concord territories.

PvE is all across the game. Null, High, Low, and WH space has it and it is run in all those types of space.

I have done capital escalations in a C5 and rescued the damsel more times than I care to think about. I have been the most expensive ship in a lowsec incursion (the logi, believe it or not) and I have done the tutorial as recently as two months ago.

But for all that . . . do I threaten the legendary Cartels and their agents?

Not enough that they notice me. So, no pressure.

Fear for my life? Fear the threat of torture? I am coming up on 25 years of marriage

This

Thanks Seph, I am still grinning at the question.

Mike is so nice that even I couldn't bring myself to troll him. He's calm and he watches out for the little man.

CSM9 would be the poorer without him.

I would prefer that you separated that into to distinct issues since they overlap but are not mutually dependent.

Lowsec. We missed having a solid lowsec rep this year and I like that there are some good people running to fill that void in the upcoming election. Not all space is created equal nor should each part of space be equally inhabited or used. That being said, Low could use some sprucing up. The tags for sec WAS a move in that direction and the most overt move for Low in this past year, giving them something that others did not have.

Since you tie force projection onto it I assume you are talking about the cap fleets curb stomping lowsec folks with cynos and forces far far beyond the locals 'punching weight'. I already weighed in on Marlonas thread (hope you have read it, damn good)

Look, let me toss a question back to you with a bit of a preface. I see hisec as civilization, laws etc. Low is the wild west, there are people watching but cannot do much except take the law into thier own hands. Null is the birth of a new civilization, one by the people who take and hold what they have as groups. WH space is small islands with the same idea of safe is what YOU make of it, not what is brought from above. Which way do you want low changed? More tech toys so it can be civilized? More tools so you can own space? Do you want it moved towards High or Null? When you ask what I can do to improve Low I ask YOU, which is the improvement? More law or more ability to take the law into your own hands?

Too much reading . . . oh I read it but I am odd that way. You are right the tutorial is better than it was but it still has miles and parsecs and kilometers and the occasional furlong to go

Being the unofficial PvE guy on the current CSM and running on a similar platform this time around; What are your feelings in regards to current low-sec PvE and your stance in regards to proposals to gear it more towards using PvP fit ships?
