CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, [u]please[/u] give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

Lasers aren’t very good weapons in an atmosphere, also the Russians experimented with lasers systems back in the 1980's if I remember correctly.

1) Adaptive optics + high power mean that atmospheric issues are handled, and 2) Yeah, they did - And couldn't make it work at any functional level.

US has had demonstrated feasible ballistic missile-killing capability for over 20 years. Mind you, still too expensive to deploy in any real-world capacity until recently, but still...
