My mining started out like this:

1. Bantam -> fill up, put in large container, get container stolen, lesson 1 learned

2. Upgraded to a badger after having recovered from container losses -> afk fill while watching TV -> get badger mk2

3. Bought an Osprey, felt on top of the world with THREE bonussed mininglasers

So that hauler is a decent way to build a bit of cash for your first barge imho.

I'm sure there's "better" ways, but play EVE for about a week and you'll realize there's always a better way out there and it only matters when you aren't enjoying what you're doing right now.

My mining career ended yesterday when I thought I'd undock my Orca for the first time in 3 years and grab some veldspar. It's gone now, along with my belief I don't suck at EVE. Pro-tip: Don't shoot wrecks you didnt make in H-sec.

Ouch. I lost a mission runner the same way - shooting a can that was attributed to my salvager who wasn't in the same corp. If I'd remembered that ships now have weapon safeties, I might have avoided that mistake...

No offense to OP.

But CCP added ISIS, which clearly outlines what ship does what, and what progresses after what....and still people make mistakes.

J'Poll - when did you get bitter?

Legit rookie question. When I started I bought an exequrer and wondered why it was a crappy combat ship (when it was a high cargo / semi mining cruiser at the time).

OP, you may have bought the wrong ship, but you did a very good job of researching and fitting your ships. You're on the right track. That Miasmos will prove useful so be sure to keep it while you stay with mining.

Hey thanks man...but I can't take all the credit lol the forums are helpful for figuring out what is what and what goes where....but after a few hours reading about each ship and considering what I wanted to do with it, I determined all that stuff was the stuff I needed lol so I went and mined and mined and mined.

And then bought the wrong ship lol oh hey btw what will it prove useful for? Because I'd really like to start getting a return on my hefty investment lol like, now haha

Hauling. Specifically moving your ore from where you mined it to where you want to sell it

Well.

A. Forums is filled with advice on how Industrials arent mining ships.

B. CCP added a VERY clear feature on ship progression and what they are useful for called ISIS.

C. Tutorial actually does mention ISIS.

And as mentioned it wasnt towards the OP in general as he already replied he made a newbie mistake. But more in general on how people can still make such an error by not reading and using the tools provided.

Its like buying something from IKEA, getting the screws, manual and a crappy screwdriver with it...Yet pick a hammer from your toolbox and wack the screws in.

This.

Or look for a regional market where demand for the Miasmos is higher and sell it for profit.
