Hi everyone-

I don't remember the last time I really tried playing Eve - it was probably more than a couple years ago...

A few friends have decided they want to take the trial, and I mentioned I used to play so we're thinking of starting again. So I logged into the game to find I'm in Orvolle in the Placid sector (and have no idea how to play again!).

We all want to be relatively close to each other in the game, so what race/bloodline should I tell the guys that are starting to choose so they start off the game closest to me (and where would that be?)

Thanks!

Here is the list of starter systems: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Rookie_Systems

Orvolle appears to be on the border between Gallente and Caldari space. Try setting destination to each of the Gallente/Caldari rookie systems and see which one is closest.

Alternatively you can let them start whatever race they prefer (so they can have beautiful Caldari avatars) and instruct them to run missions for the career agents closest to your location.

Thanks everyone! looks good - I see most of the starters are within 15 jumps or so - so they can just rush over in a shuttle and hope for the best :P

Only 1 proper race in EVE....Jove :p

Also, let me be the first to actually ANSWER the question of the OP.

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/route/Stacmon:Clellinon

Clellinon is the closest Career Agent system, which makes Cistuvaert the closest AURA system.

As Cistuvaert's station is owned by Center of Advanced Studies School (aka CAS), they should start a character of Gallente race and select the CAS as starting attribute (don't know the exact name).

As this option does mean they have to go through a couple of low-sec systems to get to Orvolle, you can also look into the following:

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/route/Orvolle:Couster

Couster is 2nd closest Career agent, which is linked to the Duripant AURA system.

Duripant system is linked to Federal Navy Academy and should thus choose a Fed Navy start for Gallente.

Not really

Closest is 2 jumps from Stacmon - called Cistuvaert.
2nd closest is only 8 jumps from Orvolle itself - called Couster.

Though then to get to Orvolle, they have to power through a couple of jumps of low-sec for the first option, but if they pick something small and fast, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Get the newbies to do the tutorial missions and they'll have the makings of a basic PVP Atron, and can fly to Orvolle in that. If they lose that, they just continue over in their pod. If they lose that, then having set their medical clone to Orvolle beforehand they will get there faster.
