Didn't learn about upgrading clones until I joined a player corp. I lost numerous amounts of SP and thought nothing of it. Coming from FFXI losing EXP on death was a normal thing so I just took it in stride. I trained learning skills to level 5 6 or 7 times before I vowed to never go to lowsec again. When I was asked why I said because I was tired of losing SP and having to retrain old skills.

Then I was told that I could just upgrade my clone and I would keep my SP. The more you know.

This hurts me on the inside.

Haha me too. Put me a few months behind in skills I imagine. Then go figure a couple years later CCP got rid of the skills altogether.

I trained to Gallente battleship, fitted a megathron which took up 90% of my ISK, and flew into Old Man Star as a shortcut to my mission site.

I still regret that day.

The most embarrassing thing I've done as a noob?

Listened to all the things in NPC corp chat about how low and null sec is boring and I shouldn't go there.

Oh boy, hard to remember ALL the stupid things but I distinctly remember reaching the cliff after the tutorials. I scanned down a wormhole in my Probe and jumped in. Ooh, a shiny anomaly! I warped to it and watched in horror as the Sleepers alpha. Oh well, at least they didn't pod me so I still have my implants. All I have to do is warp back to the wormhole...which I didn't bookmark. It took me ten minutes to start the self destruct.

Haha same as well except in an Algos (yes algos with probe launcher). Jumped in, zoomed around for a while checking out some custom offices etc, saw a site and thought got to check these sleeper things out, landed and got shredded lol.

Why would you be afraid to fly a Caracal if you had 157M isk from donations? The caracal in L2s (well CAREFUL L2s) will pay for itself very quickly! Maybe 20 missions? Just be careful, nothing will scramble you and you have the firepower to dispatch anything that does.

But 150M, you will quickly have a drake, and a drake is pretty much unstoppable in anything less then a level 4. (okay with t1 hardners and skills a L3 will be a challenge i suspect...)

So one of my chars joined a corp which was near some low-sec area, so went off exploring in his shiny raven...

Wasn't unduly worried, I'd lived in low-sec before, so jumped through the gate and there was a flashing red dude, but he was 100+km away in a BS so meh no worries.

Then he started to hit me, I was dumbstruck, didn't even think about moving back to the gate, I just couldn't believe he was hitting me from that distance, and rabbit in the headlights, just sat there wondering what was happening.

Lost a raven and learned about sniping ships at the same time Oops

one player i know has a habit of trying to fit freighters through C3s

oh, about ourselves? i did some shopping in curse and made a few attempts to reach destination, and was repeatedly met with gunfire... i was just happy to have figured out how to follow waypoints, & the freedom felt a lot like having my first car

I have jumped a one month old character into low sec in Rokh, to finish mission. Once I finished it, I stayed to kill those 2 or 3 cruisers that left and then the gang of two pirates jumped into my mission and they destroyed my battleship.

Then I have undocked in badger in Jita, sporting only one caldari navy shield invulnerability module in cargohold, nothing else. Some ganker in apocalypse ganked me, the module was lost. He got nothing.

Oh god.

Was ratting in a 0.4 system in a Tristan when a Brutix landed on grid. Started shooting me and I thought "Why isn't concord coming to help??" I thought low sec started at 0.3....

Another noob corpmate scanned down a WH in his Imicus, he entered and I tagged along in a Tristan. He started scanning as we both sat there uncloaked. A few minutes later two guys came in the WH, I let my corpmate know they were there, he checked their info and said "It's cool, they have 5.0 security status, they won't kill us". They podded him and I barely made it out.

Other random stuff like trying to use large ammo with medium guns and basically thinking that the average EVE player is kind and wouldn't stab you in a dark alley if they got the chance comes to mind.

Not paying close attention to my overview and engaging someone with -10 standing thinking it was a war target, resulting in CONCORD quickly disposing of my ship.

Another one is flying out in a brand new ship looking for targets, only to realize I forgot my spare ammo at the station. And there I was wondering why it took so long for my launchers to reload. I died shortly after. xD

On another account, lost my first ever BS to the mission Right Hand of Zazzmatazz or something because i was warp scrammed and I was focusing the fire on the npc battleships first.

Then I thought of doing a quickie salvage of my stuff using a Noctis because in my pod, i saw the npcs returning to their original positions. Welp, noctis gets scrammed and destroyed also.

Flew in a T1 frigate with cargo expanders, got some of the stuff the loot fairy was willing to drop (bs + noctis) and thought about my +200M isk loss..

...

Oh I thought speed tanking just meant sticking in a MWD and speed mods to a ship. So I was surprised why +1km/s BC was always getting hit.

As a side note, but still related to the topic, it's refreshing to see people actually admitting to their own faults instead of the usual alpha snobbery that occurs on the forums. (and in game, for that matter) Always easier to point out "fault" in others, much harder to look at yourself and your own.

I'm really interested to see how many "veterans" put out some of their own dirty laundry. Blink

C'mon foks, "teach us" a few things.

Don't get to comfortable flying around in pods in highsec. You can still smartbomb there. This is how I died for the very first time in my EVE career. I didn't even know I died. Until I spawned in station mid warp. vOv

When I was a noob, I was in a battle with wartargets with two of my corpmates. Was so fixated on the two targets, failed to realize that a neutral Oneiros had gone suspect and was repping them. Also didn't consume the drugs I had brought with me. Also forgot to use the ECM drones to save my ass when we all started dying. Mistakes were made. Also, that happened yesterday.

Tunnel vision! I still get that and it still causes me to lose ships.
