Many EVE players have put some money into Star Citizen. We'll see how it stacks up when the time comes. I look forward to EVE Valkyrie as an old Tie Fighter fan.

EVE is a different kind of pleasure than your typical game. There are lots of community types out there and there are lots of things to love about the fleet game, but I prefer the lone wolf thing mostly. For me personally, I get some weird fun out of persevering against the odds. Of doing more with less. Of finding ways to solve problems outside of the obvious solutions. This game provides a lot of that kind of fun. I will say, though, that you have to build a rock solid foundation of assets and abilities to get to a point where you can really play that way. It's that startup time that kills most potential EVE players.

What one guy said about EVE (that is very true)...

"You, the new player, are an adorable golden haired child. You are released, alone but with a map, into a large wilderness park teeming with tens of thousands of rapacious pedophiles. If you are cunning, tenacious and lucky, you can eventually become one of the pedophiles."
~Malcanis

There's a similar comment about the DayZ standalone, "You either die a hiker, or you live long enough to see yourself become a serial killer, murdering hikers"

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
