So Im pretty new to eve. I think getting close to rounding out my 2nd month.
I already put in alot of money into this game. Bought two of the 2nd 10 year bundles. One for myself, one for a long time player who told me check the game out. I have bought alot of plex already, to get ships etc. To be ready to go...

What I didnt expect, was this.... since last week, every time I started eve there was a patch. About three days into that, you know someone screwed up something somewhere. Well today, it now hits me.

Launcher just sits, does nothing, whether signed in or not. Ok....check the forums, nothing useful that I have seen yet to help me. So after trying the repair tool, which failed everytime. I said ok we ll reinstall. Yay.
NO.
Downloaded the install from the eve page, ran it, it failed. Thats where Im at, not happy, and ready to cancel on this game, even after all that waste of money. Unacceptable. I know crap happens, but your big thing, is youve gone this long, your game is so tight and youre all on top of it, then why can I even reinstall the game now?

Hope I get some help.

Have you tried contact Customer Support?

Or listing error messages?

I know neither I or many of my friends are having problems.

What operating system?

If there was a wide spread issue, dont you think other people would have noticed?

Therefore it must be either a corrupted download, an non-fuctioning driver or something else local

However, without information, Im not sure how you expect sensible help

Getting irate and being aggressive when people try to help doesnt really make anyone sympathetic to helping you, especially when its quite frankly the wrong place for technical issues.

Have you tried running the exe file directly, independant of the launcher? This solves 99% of launcher issues

I can't give you the answers you want, but if you check here you might at least find a thread by someone with the same problem. It'll give you something to follow until a fix is found.

If the game ran fine yesterday and the game hasn't changed, then logically the problem isn't the game client.

What else about your computer has changed in that time? Does anyone else us the computer besides yourself?

Its not like Im new to gaming, you dont need to know what Im running etc. I said the game ran yesterday, I was in, I filled up my training que, on two accts. What else is there to say? I didnt do anything since then to corrupt my computer, etc.
So no point in sharing what isnt gonna matter....

I had already tried running the exe by itself, which does nothing but bring up a launcher that doesnt work. So... after that. Looked for more info, didnt find anything.
Downloaded the eve installer, ran it, it failed like 10 seconds in....said trouble getting payload...thats it.
Repair.exe before I uninstalled, did nothing but fail.
Every other game on my computer works fine. Star wars, FF14, etc. So again....the patch, latest one has now made it unplayable, not sure how many more times I need to say this.

and when this posts....which I just tried to do, and it said I can only post once every five mins, since my acct is less than two days old. Umm this acct is 2 months old. So another problem?

The fact that this issue seems to be localised to you, would suggest that it is localised to your PC. You may think you are some bigshot IT guy, but you may be overlooking something simple which someone else here may be able to suggest and get you back on track to flying spaceships.

One issue that I had been having recently with the game was due to DirectX and my AMD card. Changed it from DirectX11 to 9 and the issues have gone.

I know my issues are diffrent to yours but it was a simple thing suggest by a frind that got me past it

I shouldnt be bothered to attempt to help, you have an attitude. In one of your later messages you mentioned a problem with the payload (this information is very useful, shouldve been included in your first post)

Try using the offline installer. Delete CCP/EVE directories from Program Files and from My Documents, then download the 3 files and run the executable:

Again, have any of you actually helped? nope. A dev would hopefully have some answers. Just goes to show, as usual, I stated right off what was wrong, and all the {Snip.} come out.
Im really not sure how to keep saying, it worked yesterday, now it doesnt. Nothing changed on my end other then a patch from eve.

no you didn't state anything important that would show me you are a "pro"....

you tried to reinstall...sure, did you delete ALL the files that get left on a system? Do you even know where they are located? Not working reinstalls only have 2 possible reasons: leftover files/reg entries and corruped installers.

But thats the only thing i will say, you may be frustrated, but aggravating ppl who want to help is just beeing an arse.

p.s.
a "pro" would have state his system (OS at least), explained how he did a clean install, logged the error messages, and more).

Another fairly common problem (especially on comcast) is that there is a bad entry to the patch (or game) server in a routing cache. These are usually semi-localized geographically - and would explain the 502 error people in the other thread see.

OK, the story as it happened...
Got on the computer today, ran eve. Launcher came up. Bar at bottom, says 1/4 updating some such, 0.0 percent. Whether I logged in or not. It stayed that way, however signed in, the play button was grayed out.
Hmm,,,whats up I'm thinking. So I run it again and again and again, reboot the computer. Nothing. Now I know the game has had like minimum five patches in the last week. And whatever was done in the last day messed me up. As I stated, I was in the game yesterday filling up my training que on two accts. Everything worked fine.
So moving on....after all that. I went here to the eve forums, and as of yet. Nothing suggested, which for the most part. Was run the repair tool. I'm like OK...run that. Fails 4 seconds in. Again, 4 seconds again fails. Something line 365 was last thing showing on the repair tool. OK...reboot again, run it again. Same thing.
So check here again, OK run the exe from inside the eve folder. Game didn't launch. But the launcher did. Umm OK, was that supposed to happen? everyone on here said it would run the game, it didn't. So I'm like damn it, I'm gonna have to reinstall, other people are doing that. Their mess up, but OK Ill reinstall the game to fix their problem.
Nope. The reinstall doesn't even work. It fails on its bar like a third in, 10 seconds.
One, nothing else is wrong on my computer, everything works, every other game I have loaded.
Two, I have eset, it is set to ignore all my games.
Also, the forums say my account is less then two days old when I try to post? This account is two months old. As I stated in my original statement right off. So now I don't know if there is another issue going on as well. I logged here obviously to post, so I would assume I'm not compromised. No spyware, no adware, no viruses on my computer.
Other people on here are reporting the same thing.
