Actually, I'm not sure you did, monsiour. A good leader is respected by his men. A truly great leader is loved by them, and respected by even his enemies. The unfortunate truth is, no matter how little one cares, the sense those others get of that leader on a national and international level will affect them greatly. It's just a basic truism of interstellar life and politics.

In short, if it even has to be considered separately, or ignored, that leader has already failed those who follow him by refusing to consider every aspect that affects or could benefit them. I don't know about you, my friend, but I've always found gritting my teeth and accepting a blow to my pride acceptable if it benefits those who rely on me. A leader is a servant and a beacon, someone to follow, yet ready to sacrifice for the greater good, even if the decision is unpopular.

Merit is extremely important, but I feel it should not entwined with raw popularity, lest a respected leader slip into becoming yet another placating beauracrat. The Cluster has enough of those things.

We are speaking of different sides of a very similar coin, I believe. To the degree one's community requires diplomacy, be a diplomat. To the degree one's community requires protection, be a protectionist. Everything a leader does must be viewed through the lens of the culture and traditions he or she is accountable to. Where a leader sits on a scale such as diplomacy versus protectionism depends upon the people being led.

It is a matter of perspective. One should never sit down at an international table with the other side's perceptions a first concern. That is always secondary to the people you lead. It seems to me that people drastically overestimate the importance of attempting to gauge the perceptions of others. If you lead consistently, loyally, and cohesively with the values of your community, respect should follow. If it does not, that is far more telling of those you meet on the international stage than any attempt at altering their perceptions ever could. The vast majority of perceptions are set in stone far before you arrived and should be treated as a distant priority behind the community you lead.

I think we've found our accord, Sarice-haan. Well said.

I feel we're diverting from the topic. Or more correctly, we've gone into the deep end of the void instead of our topic.

While Caldari Prime is indeed home to the Caldari, and especially the Civire & Deteis bloodlines, the fact is that a substantional part is governed by a Gallente tied corporation.
That they reached out their hands voluntarily to us, without getting stuck in comittee after comittee of federal bureaucracy, and that Ishukone accepted their reached out hand is a good sign for things to come.

It's far from perfect, but peace, and unrestrained access to home, Caldari Prime has to start somewhere. Let us show to the Gallente people that the Caldari State isn't the greedy, corporate, soul-crushing mogul they envisioned, but rather that we are a union of Corporations that repay the hard work and loyalty of their employees in kind.

In short:

Let's give peace a chance.

There is only one chance for peace: complete termination of all occupants on Caldari Prime.
Only after Roden and his lapdogs will understand, that whomever they will send to occupy our world dies, disregarding age, race of profession, they will stop trying to steal our planet.

Already building a summer home there, not moving it. You can't make me.

It's funny how whenever some insult is thrown at Diana she just says the same thing back like it was her idea all along.

As for this...

Quote:
Talking about fantasies, it is amusing to see how a lowly grunt like you is trying to represent yourself as somebody important.

You are getting confused, Diana. It is you who is the lowly grunt who has forsaken the use of your brain in exchange for accepting whatever you're fed by Heth. Have you even commanded a fleet?

You talk like you hold some kind of superiority over other Caldari when you infact do not. Some people continue to respect you but it is only out of admiration of your tenacity. Yet there comes a point where tenacity becomes stupidity, and you crossed that line long ago. The child who touches the hot stove eventually learns not to touch it after burning a hand; You keep going at it like a mindless animal.

As for the whole bloodline thing - in one post you claim bloodlines are important and heavily affect savage "impulses", and the next you say it's only important for procreating your 'master-race'. You truly don't even believe what you're saying by constantly contradicting yourself.

Diana... you're just trolling us, aren't you? You silly gal.

No one is purebred. Limiting the genepool to just those of "pure" genes, you would run into an inbreeding risk.

Mixing races is why humanity became the species we are. You cant become hyper intelligent tool makers and language users with extra chromosomes. Racial mixing had proven to lead to more good traits from both races being inherited and less bad ones.

The racial purity as considered in the Caldari State has more in common with 'Animal Fancy' than it does anything else. Being 'pureblood' is not about inbreeding and verifiable genetic purity across the entire genetic lineage (which is almost impossible to document). What it is about is actually a twofold process.

1.) A pedigree system that documents ancestry. It usually is measured back at least (if not more) three generations, not including your own. That means parents, grandparents, and great grandparents. To be considered 'pureblood', a certain percentage of your ancestry must have attained an official sort of classification as Deteis or Civire. The percentage varies depending on who is judging you, and the requirements to be classified also vary. Most often, classification is done at birth, though it can be done again later in life (like, after puberty) in some cases.

2.) Measurable physical features of all sorts that determine which type of Caldari someone is. Caldari tend to pair with similar looking people. It is the physical differences that really determine who is Deteis and who is Civire. After centuries of this tendency to pairbond only with similar looking people, two distinct physical archetypes have emerged: Civire and Deteis. They are named after folklore heroes. Granted, Civire and Deteis physical attributes may have their origin in ancient peoples who lived in different parts of Caldari Prime... but this is speculation at best.

Civire and Deteis are the same exact species, so don't let anyone tell you differently. The only differences are physical. This is because of, and encouraged by, the tendency for Deteis to marry Deteis and Civire to marry Civire. Physical traits carry on through generations.

A common misconception is that two Civire or two Deteis will always produce a Civire or Deteis offspring. This is not true. It is entirely possible for the child of two parents of the same bloodline to have physical attributes of the other bloodline simply because of the dice roll. In social contexts, they will often be treated by how they look. A Civire that looks Deteis will be treated as a Deteis, and is more likely to end up being courted by another 'actual' Deteis and ignored by other Civire.

In the most cases however the above example will fail to look like either archetype, will simply be labeled halfblood despite their actual 'purity', and must resort to their pedigree when challenged. Those who really care about 'genetic purity' will compare pedigrees (yes, literally) as part of courtship. This is done partly to choose a healthy mate who will produce healthy offspring, but also to ensure certain positive social statuses.

In the end, you have to understand that a vast majority of what we're talking about has little to do with hard genetics here. It has much more to do with physical features that are classified under a very inflexible system, and those who fall between the cracks are labeled rightly or not as 'halfblood' and suffer significant social misfortune.

Ah I see what you mean Ms. Oniseki. The pedigree type system seems to fit in well with Caldari culture. In the Federation, due to the massive amount of interracial couplings (only an extreme minority of people can still claim to be 100% Gallente, genetically speaking) the hard genetics becomes more important with this stuff. In parts of the Federation that are well connected to the rest of the cluster, interracial relationships are supported if not encouraged, for both the political reasons and scientific reasons. As a result of my culture, I sort of just assumed the whole "half-bred mongrel" business was a matter of hard genetics rather than simple ancestry. Thank you for that enlightening post.

Of course, there are interesting extremist when it comes to genetics here in the Federation. Some racist types fervently believe that mixed breeding is causing Gallente society is crumbling. On the opposite side of the spectrum, there are those who believe that staying to your own race means you are bigoted and is also limiting the evolution of mankind.

The pedigree way of thinking occasionally will apply to Garoun families. However, it really only comes into play when inheriting a title or something. If someone can trace their ancestry back to Garoun families from before there was even a Federation, they often have a much better chance from getting what they want. Aside from that though, the pedigree way of thinking isn't applied often.

Another one of the amazing cultural differences between Gallente and Caldari.

In fact, I never lost a single drinking game to any matari.

I don't know how you came up with this. Just futile trolling attempt with obvious lies, or you are intoxicated that hard for hallucinating? So much about self-inflicted stupidity. Well done, Veikitamo.

Oh, about boldness. I see you are indeed too scared to show yourself before me and prefer to yap, hiding behind neocom. Can't say I am surprised, though!

I am not going to make you move, or any summer houses, or anything else or anybody from our home planet.

What I was talking about, is complete destruction and burning to the ground of occupant's assets taking together with their lives. Caldari Prime is for Caldari, all non-Citizens must be terminated without mercy and regret if they wouldn't run to save their petty lives.

We will deal with our homeworld occupancy once and forever and present Roden a bloody bill for his mistakes.
