Is this supposed to fix the problem that I am having (lockup/freeze that does not allow character to dock, turn on modules, chat, do anything)? Or is that being looked at as an entirely different issue?

Are you talking about the new(ish) bug that causes eve to not recognize your cursor?

The bug is new to me since February 2nd. It is a bug that does exactly as I have described in multiple posts.

All, check your graphics settings in the energy saver preferences. Next to "graphics", you should have it set to "Higher Performance". Some (but not all) of you might have been locked out by a bug in your affecting your internal graphics card (like myself) which you didn't know you were running on and that you shouldn't be running eve on anyway. I believe some OS system default to better battery life.

Only effects the 9600M card however, other cards do not have the option. But yes, if you are running a 9600M do it.

Yes, it will also fix your freeze problem. I've tested this on the SiSi server and not had a single lockup/freeze unlike I'd usually have.

So this patch will fix the black screen issue and freeze flickers.

I've found a workaround for Wspacers who are warping to a POS (like me). It works only for a few minutes!
1. Disable "close the EVE launcher after starting EVE online" in the launcher settings
2. Enter game
3. when it starts flickering (when you arrive at the POS), force quit EVE asap
4. click play on the launcher (quick, you must be)
5. When you enter the game, you should stay inside the force field
6. warp out of force field to a safe spot, don't try planets, moons, holes,....

now you can, at least, inject skills. It works only for a few minutes, be quick!

That would be fantastic. I will keep the thread updated after Tuesday.

The patch seems to have fixed the flicker graphics lockups for me but when I get to the game it freezes after about 10 seconds. In my log:

2/18/14 9:15:31.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x6 = Fifo: Parse Error
2/18/14 9:15:31.000 AM kernel[0]: IOVendorGLContext::ReportGPURestart
2/18/14 9:15:57.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error
2/18/14 9:16:16.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel timeout!

I was really hoping to be able to play today. :-(

Please file a bug report with as much detail as possible - if you use the ingame bug reporting right after the freeze the logs there might us useful info. Now that the black screen on startup is fixed, we can start looking into other issues.

Ugh, this patch did not help me at all. I thought this thread (and the other one like it) were originally posted to describe a primarily IN-GAME issue with freezing. Now it seems that the black screen on start-up is fixed, but the actual reason for a number of these threads is still present.

Today I logged on, hoping to dock a the station I DC warp to every time I log in and start skilling up again. Unfortunately, I received the black screen flicker -> freeze before being able to dock.

I did notice that today I made it "past" a few flickers before one really caught on and slammed my screen to a halt.

Clearly there are still issues present due to the Feb 4th patch.

I will try and file logs as soon as possible, but I'm not quite sure whether I will be able to due to the forced force-quit of the application.

I am not having any of these issues. I have a late 2012 iMac. Have you tried purging your system of the game, including prefs, etc.?

Strange thing is some of us are still receiving the flickering issue while it's completely fixed up for me who experienced it?

Also CCP can there be a reply to this thread? https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=322912&find=unread

I just experienced the flicker issue for the first time since this patch.

So it isn't fixed Sad

However, this issue is now rare. I rarely experience it now so EVE is playable. Though maybe somewhere there is something still causing it.

I think this is the same for me. It just so happens that I am dced in a spot where it always occurs... Going to try some strange strategies like opening the map immediately upon login and such. I think it may be due to a star in the system I am in crashing my game when its graphics load.

Can anyone having freeze problems check the system error log after it happens ( open "console" ) and see if they're getting any error messages with "Channel exception!" in them ( just like the last time ).

I am, and it might be a similar bug to the last one I found that black screened at character selection.

Yes, I definitely have "Channel exception!"s

2/19/14 9:12:36.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x6 = Fifo: Parse Error
2/19/14 9:12:36.000 AM kernel[0]: IOVendorGLContext::ReportGPURestart
2/19/14 9:12:36.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error

Note: I get about 100 of the last line and then...
This was all seen after force quitting clearly...

2/19/14 9:13:01.202 AM loginwindow[40]: Application hardKill returned -600
2/19/14 9:13:01.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel timeout!
2/19/14 9:13:01.426 AM WindowServer[82]: Display 0x4272780 released by conn 0x13e3b
2/19/14 9:13:01.540 AM coreaudiod[175]: Disabled automatic stack shots because audio IO is active

Minor break through!

I have been stuck in the same place (warping into a station) for the past few days. I thought it might be the graphics of the station crashing my game.

I opened the star map upon login and my character successfully warped to the station and did not crash (perhaps because the graphics never loaded to my screen) and I was able to dock up.

For anyone experiencing something similar, try using your star map as a sort of Perseusian anti-Medusa.

Cool, thanks.

Snorlax or anyone, if you read this - I've got a trace of this crash too.

And it is the station graphics causing the crash, specifically, Gallente station number 5 (Industrial) ! Props to the mac guy in dodixie that clued me into that, my crash was on the same type.

We'll see if we can repro this - let's hope it's not as elusive as the previous issue. Thanks for the info, guys!

You can also petition under "stuck" and get them to move you to being docked.
