You have no idea how much easier it is these days, and that's an unbiased statement btw. No more learning skills, no more attribute issues and irrevocable choices you made but weren't aware of, actually a decent NPE/tutorial, skill queue. the list goes on and on.

But that's not why we react the way we do because normally we're helpful and constructive, we react like this because the OP is obviously whining/baiting/being a non-effort clown. We all went through this stage, many people daily go through this stage, some of them ask questions on the forum about it. But this guy decided to start whining and as such he gets exactly what he deserves.

He gets what he deserves? Man ... you've got issues bro. Like I said, this thread has a serious lack of empathy.

To the OP, if you're still here. Try to think of EVE as a reflection of real life, because in lots of ways, that is what EVE is. It's a freakin dog eat dog world, and throwing your hands up in the air shouting 'That ain't fair' won't get you anything. The strong take, the weak loose and complain.

If you only remember one thing out of all this, it has to be this. Do not complain, do not *****, and never do it on an EVE forum. Adapt, grow and overcome.

Like I said in a previous post, I made the exact mistake you did. I thought I'd pop all the baddies and get me some loot in the process. Lost my best ship, best weapons, ammunition. My first reaction was like yours, what the bloody **** is this. Why would a game do this to a subscriber (trialist). Are they ******* stupid?

Then I remembered, I've played WOW for 7 years. WOW made me lazy. Embarrasing lazy. Shamefully lazy. I died in a goddamn tutorial because I was to stupid and lazy to read the mission text ...

Anger -> Insight -> Shame -> Overcome -> Grown

This is how it is supposed to be.

So if you're stll here, get it together, man up, write down the names of the haters here, and start planning payback. It might never happen, but who knows? This is EVE afterall ...

Anger/no insight/whine/blame/cocky reply/ whine/cocky reply.

That was his chosen path.

I havn't been playing very long at all to be honest, my first dumb mistake was flying through rancer in my capsule and losing my +3 implants Pirate
The pilot of the smartbombing battleship that made the kill though was a very pleasent fella to chat with so its all good :)

My first "big score" really was tackling an excumer then lying to the pilot about a tornado coming to assist me, 75m isk later i let him go, would have taken about a year for my slasher to destroy a mackinaw.

I'm no vet by any means, still in my first month or so.

I had no problem with the tutorials at all, I thought they were....

A/ Very easy (loved the freebies).
B/ Quite Intuitive and easy to follow.
C/ Did a very good job of introducing the basics.

Funny how different people can do the exact same thing and arrive at completely different conclusions about that thing. Smile

Self-entitled whiners should not get any empathy. They do not deserve it. IMO.

Tbh, a lot of you guys really need to take a step back and realise that playing the game for so many years has made you very very biased.

As a new player, coming into EVE right now, 7 or 8 years after release (dunno if thats correct), is hard. And if you're not used to sandbox games, it is even harder.

Quoting HTFU and all that isn't really helpfull.

So, in short: the internet.”

A. Its nearly 11 years since official release.

B. If you look at the forums. There is another thread about a newbie losing his probing ship during the tutorials. Same people who posted here also posted there with constructive and helpful advice. Why...because the attitude of that new player was completely different then this one. That newbie wanted to learn, listened and took on advice give from other more experiant people.

C. We arent biased. All in all EVE is 10 times easier then when I started and the tutorials are 20 times better then they are back then..

The fact is I'm in a damn TUTORIAL mission that didn't actually TEACH me anything.

Actually it taught you the most valuable lesson in EVE. If you undock, you will eventually loose it. You also learned that details matter. The mission told you that you may need to warp out, it was your mistake to not pay pay attention to the fine print. You learned that running both a shield booster and hull repper will eat your cap so fast as to be almost useless. You learned that in EVE, just because you can access a mission, doesn't mean it will be a walk in the park.

I would say this mission taught you a great deal, as long as you are paying attention to the lesson.

People should realize that their responses are making an impression on lots of new players, not just the OP. Actually, I'm surprised CODE isn't making special donations to the OP. His tears would surely be famous on their site someday.

To the OP: Glad you felt better about the loss of the ship the next day. I think that's typical. It's almost better to get a ship blown up ASAP. Kind of like getting your first scratch on a new car. Then you don't have to worry about it so much.

I also understand your point about the mission write-ups. It's considered cheating in a lot of games. You can avoid the notes, but you'll lose a lot more ships. In Eve, a lot of players make their isk running missions, so they can make isk a lot faster by knowing the mission details.

Finally the learning curve is not easy -- but it's one of the things that makes the game so rewarding for such a long period of time.

See! This forum is full of New Bro's who get EVE.

Have a +1 from me sir. That attitude is all you need to make New Eden a home.

Op I feel for you. I remember the first time I did a lvl 4. No one told me that the NPc could scram. Then there was my very first bc - took it unfit into lowsec. Oh and the first time I looked at the ship scanner and said what are these anomalies wrapped to it to check it out and was suddenly blopped from the sky. Every player has been there and every player knows that the new player experience is fairly subpar. But the truth about eve is that none of the real fun in the game comes spoonfed from the dev. In fact eve as a pve game is pretty much crap. What keeps people coming to eve is the meta game - the interactions between players - which you can only really learn and experience from other players. So IMO skip going it on your own and forget the tutorials and join a newbie corp such as eve uni. You will have a better experience for it.

It's considerably easier than it used to be, a lot of us started when the NPE consisted of "here's your ship, there's an NPC, try not to die", also known as "here's a Rubiks Cube, commit a physically impossible sexual act with yourself". Aura used to insult you when you exploded too, happy days.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

He's entitled to his opinion and there is no problem with that, one thing though I think that your missing is that there is a reason why in that specific mission your are being 'owned'. It is to teach you that you can't fight every fight and that you need to know when you are overwhelmed and out gunned and need to bail out of the situation.

I hope you find time to get back into the game and it will be unforgiving but you learn from your mistakes and become better.

wow that mission is so easy, you don't have to fight anything, read the mission notes, fly there confirm them dead report back

really if you cant handle a tutorial mission, take a break rethink this game
