Just noticed that the market is not working under a first come firt serve basis i.e. someone placed an order with the same price I already did and he was placed above me.
Is there a particular reason for this ?

What? This is unacceptable. I do not know the reason, but I know the solution. Lower your price by .01 isk.

Personal experience says the older order will continue to be chosen by the market mechanics as long as the two prices are equal. The visual representation of the newer order on top when sorted by price is just that, visual.

The market might alternate between the two orders, but the older order is not shut out unless the newer order is at a lower price.

OK that makes sense.
Thanks for clarifying

It could mean that his time limit on the order is 30 days while yours is 90 days (or something similar). Even if he came after you for the same price his order will be chosen.

From a pont of view of how realistic it is, I'd say that it's not realistic at all if what you're describing is the case.
At least that's not how markets work in RL

Edit: Never mind.I just checked the orders, my order is good for a day while his is good for 90 days.
Let's hope it's just visual like Dersk explained.

It is a sorting thing.

You have market sorted by price, then likely by duration

Incorrect. At the same price, the order placed first will be matched first, regardless of the duration of each, and regardless of the sort order of the display of market orders.
