You guys say "Allow applications downloaded from:" to Anywhere"

You are really asking us to disable a security feature systemwide to play a game? Are you serious about this?

If I go into the Contents of the app and try to open the app inside, it doesn't work, either.

It sucks, but I found I could re-enable Gatekeeper after running the client once and it continued to work.

You don't have to disable Gatekeeper. You can just override it on a single app by using the "Open" command.

That didn't work for me. But this (in Terminal) did:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/EVE Online.app"

It should be giving an error about being from an unidentified developer, but for me was giving "EVE Online is damaged and should be moved to the trash". The above command resolved the issue.

Brand new machine. Fresh download.

If you follow my directions, you disable it, then launch EVE Online, then immediately re-enable it. OS X will remember that EVE is an exception, and it won't bother you about it again, but you'll still have the security for everything else.
