Hi,

after reading Ripard Teg's blog about core skills http://jestertrek.blogspot.nl/2014/01/alts-in-eve-thesis.html
and CCP's blog about the China server year update http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/2013-serenity-update/

I get the impression CCP and CSM8 want to revisit the new player experience and reassessing some basic piloting skill training time.

Before we are going to either give free skillpoints to new players or let them PAY FOR faster access to skill points with rl money.
I want to remind CCP and the CSM8 the greed is good drama which happened, and where CCP stated that GREY AREAs are still open for CCP to insert their business model.
http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/accord-reached-at-ccps-special-summit/

Recently we have seen adding training time for alts on the same account for PLEX, this is a good thing, because it is balanced.
Either you buy a new account and train an alt, which cost plex, or train an alt on the same account which cost plex, this is balanced.

If you where to sell attributes remapping for PLEX this would be part of a grey area which is discussed during 2011 on forums.

If you where to sell a certain amount of skillpoint allocation to new players for rl money this would also fall in a GREY AREA.

Global Brand Director
for EVE Online at CCP Games, CCP Ingo quote:

"With account management services helping trial accounts convert remaining game time into allocable skillpoints upon first-time subscription, new players can get started a little faster and can spread their wings further while taking their first brave steps into New Eden"

Does the CSM8 think they have enough influence and status to make it clear to the CCP higher management we don't want to see another f-up like in 2011 ?

PS: for example I'm concerned about people making quick throw away alts for pvp (/pve) that are now even more skilled due to faster skill point allocation which is paid with real life money.

Eve online is :

A) mining simulator B) glorified chatroom C) spreadsheets online

D) CCP Games Pay to Win at skill leveling, with instant gratification

Personally I much rather see CCP adding the ability for new players to TAG basic core skills mentioned in Ripard Teg (Vice-Chairman CMS8) blog to have quicker training time on them, due to lowering the Training Time Multiplier or give them unallocated skill points through gameplay for example.

HOWEVER getting the ability to TAG basic skills or get unallocated skill points for new players should not be done by PAYING FOR IT with real life money !

This should be done through playing THE GAME with newbie content, for instance you successful complete a certain small drone mission that now opens up tagging a core drone skill: Core Drone Operations -> 2x now gets to be 1x training time multiplier for 3 levels.

Or if this is to hard to code for (or it requires to much developer time vs pay off in new subscriptions) add a few generalized new player missions that once completed successfully gives them unallocated skill points, again through playing the game and not with paying real life money.
