The pic of the op's log in screen is useful for comparison, a 30" monitor (2560x1600) give a 2" gap between the moon and the left of the character selection box (similar difference to top and bottom) over the large TV (1920x1080?). Not a massive difference (clearly the monitor is showing a bigger picture than the TV) but just as you can see far more of the log in screen you don't have issues like the market window blocking out the sun etc. The smaller TV's shown (720?) are of such low resolution that a 30" monitor could replace them both without altering the amount of information displayed.

No sadly this setup isnt 4k. Right now my 30" are 1360 x 768, they do support 1920 x 1080 but I run 3x screen on 1 GTX 570 that (first) should not be able to do triple monitor. (Read everywhere, they should support only 2 monitor) My third monitor is plug via a usb 3 to hdmi link, but the GeForces still take it and render on all screen.

When I upgrade the 30" to 1920 x 1080, the picutre is obviously quite crisp, but nothing compare to the 2560 x 1600 I tested.

As for the 55", it is 1920 x 1080 and indeed, a little bit more blurry but with all the picture ajustement option, i honestly find it quite sharp.

Again, until I can afford the 4k version. That will change the game big time. At those resolution, it's the OS font and configuration that is not ready for such screen. Did you saw windows 8 on 4k resolution?

32" Widescreen LCD TV is what I use. I'm also square eyed and will never go back to anything smaller, although I am looking to buy a new rig. Really like the op's setup and it ain't OTT as others often are.

Without heading off into research land and with a sense that I will be corrected. 1920x1080 is half (roughly) the pixels of 2560x1600. That means that 30" monitors cant use a standard DVI port as they don't have sufficient bandwidth so what tends (tended) to be the case is that a graphics card came with one dual link capable DVI port and one standard DVI port. That meant that a card had (in theory) sufficient bandwidth for three 1920x1080 displays - I never looked into whether it was possible to access that potential.

Iiyama ProLite GB2773HS 27 inch 144 hrz monitor at 1920x1080. I need a DVI-D cable to make the 144 hrz happen, that's for sure.

Nothing wrong with playing on TV if you fell comfortable, got enough fps, sharp scren and resolotiun.
In future i plan to play on ultra wide lcd, 21:9 ratio somthing betwen 27-32'

Stuf on big screns looks cool, but when we talking about long therm gaming, middle size scren are best for playing, having scren monster close to eyes is bad idea, you lose focus and everything looks to big, even while using 24' monitor somtime i neeed to push it back because if to close thing looks so big and gaming is less efficient.

Btw playing on 20x " size monitor from distance like 1m give same visual expirence - effect like using big scrren monster waching form few meters away.

If it bleed we can kill it.

I got great framerate, flat screen now have 'computer mode" you can activate, zero lag, Eve is just incredibly immersive and gorgeous on such a setup. Actually, any game is.

That's a nice setup you have there, I like the ambience and TV screen is a good idea.

But THIS beats almost any EVE gaming setup, I guess… Shocked

"Response time: 12 ms gray to gray"

Ughhh!...... how can your eyes not hurt after spinning in space with that response time?

I cheap TV is not meant to handle that fast changing image of a computer game, hence there are "gaming monitors", not "TV one size fits all". A quality TV with "sports mode".... maybe, but that would cost quite a bit more

At the moment I'm using a single 32 inch 1920x1080 60 Hz CCFL Backlit LCD TV through HDMI, with a Radeon 7850.

I game on the couch, sat next to the Mrs, who also PC games from the couch.

Despite upping the font sizes, GUI scale and so on, the text is a bit small, and I'm unwilling to drop the resolution. I'm thinking about either getting a bigger TV, or maybe getting a monitor and somehow mounting that pretty close.

I have a desk I could sit at with a 1080P monitor, but what can I say - that would mean moving further away from my lady - she would be unwilling to accept such a compromise! My ideal/realistic setup would be triple 1080P monitors at a close enough distance, but I'm unsure how I'd feel about the bezels.

Just me and my 1024 x 768 laptop screen.

Normally on the computer screen but occasionally on the TV if I'm in the mood for sitting in front of the big screen.

It doesn't render as well but I basically become a starship captain a little bit more so,.... yeah :)

Actually, in "those days", a CRT (0 response time) was superior in every way (besides portability), and i've had my CRT till about 2 months ago :P

A couch with recliner, cordless mice, keyboard and headset. 47" LG HDTV. The computer is not in the same room actually. P

Doing fine... the worst was getting use to the small character but it's mostly gone now.

Wouldn't change back. Smile

I was playing on two 23" NEC EA231WMi (1920x1080). One character per screen if using both, I rarely stretched one window out across both screens. One screen died recently though and I replaced it with a 27" Dell U2713HM (2560x1440). The extra resolution is very nice for EVE's mess of UI windows I usually have open. Also a nice improvement for working in photoshop.

4k monitors sound niiiice... But too pricy unless you settle for a TN panel. Bleh.

Hey,

Just curious, anyone here play eve on a TV instead of a computer screen?

I just got flamed for 'showing off' because of my rig.

Truth is, instead of buying 2x Computer Screen I decided to go with one 55" + 2x 30" flat TV. Bottom line it costed me only 100$ more.

So I was curious, people spent hundreds of dollars in plex, thousand in rig and video card. What screen you plug on such computer?

Q: How many of you DO play on a TV screen?

I play on a monitor because playing on a large TV sucks.

low resolution + large screen area = huge pixels. TVs have minimum viewing distances because the pixel sizes are so large.

I'd rather play high resolution on a smaller screen area so everything is sharper.

EDIT : I don't like playing stretched across screens because the bezels annoy the poop out of me.

As noted before CRT was superior in those days..

Hell in my day CGA was a luxury with most running variations of monochrome. I had an all in one monochrome green 8086 that was the bomb diggity decades before the imac popularized the all in one.
