Do you play on a TV or a Computer Screen

Hey,

Just curious, anyone here play eve on a TV instead of a computer screen?

I just got flamed for 'showing off' because of my rig.

Truth is, instead of buying 2x Computer Screen I decided to go with one 55" + 2x 30" flat TV. Bottom line it costed me only 100$ more.

I got great framerate, flat screen now have 'computer mode" you can activate, zero lag, Eve is just incredibly immersive and gorgeous on such a setup. Actually, any game is.

So I was curious, people spent hundreds of dollars in plex, thousand in rig and video card. What screen you plug on such computer?

Q: How many of you DO play on a TV screen?

What's a TV? Sounds ancient.

bingo, his pig not being a goat doesn't make the pig wrong, just him an idiot for shouting at his pig "WHY ARENT YOU A GOAT!" (Source)

I wish i had the desk space to :(
my two monitors take up 110% of it right now...

Nothing wrong with a TV if all you do is Netflix and games.

I need the color balance and high resolution of my three twenty seven inch monitors for my game modding and Photoshop work texturing models.

Though I have to admit that it does look good on a big screen from what I've seen in pictures.

EDIT: And I'm totally LMAO at the box of Kleenex on your desk. EVE is not all you do with that big screen, methinks.

I don't, mainly because they don't offer nearly enough screen real-estate.
Occasionally, I run EVE on my TV-connected computer just to show the game off to visitors (and it looks great when doing that), but for actually playing the game? Ugh, no. Too restricted.

Definitely a computer monitor (27"). I know some TVs can make good monitors, but I tried mine once and it looked awful.

When did General Discussion turn into Out of POD Experience?

But, to answer OP. Depends on my mood and alcohol level...

Sober/bored = HTPC on TV
Sober/not bored = Gaming PC
Drunk/bored = GTA V
Drunk/not bored = Gaming PC

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Dynamite is overrated...

Actually, you don't really need anything...............just as long as the barrel is made of C-4!

I have used my Laptop and 46" Full HD Samsung TV to multi box before, however I found that the Laptop had a higher resolution than the TV, So I ended up putting my Boosting toon on the TV that was doing nothing and the character that I was chatting and actually using on the Laptop, despite it being smaller(but higher resolution and hence easier to read text).

The above being said I normally play on my Desktop with Quad 24" LCD Monitors, on a stand in a 2x2 grid.

True that, I would never do Photoshop work on that. It's indeed netflix and gaming.

Ohhh, that's a really nice setup. You do day trading on that or video editing or it's purely for eve online? What combat fleet did you built with that setup because you still divided your click rate between 4 ship?

Do you use passive tanking on the 3 other screen and more aggressive fitting on your main char?

Anyone else made a combat fleet with triple or more screen?

I run my PC through my TV on occasions, tried EVE on it a few times, didn't care for it much. Only use the PC/TV connection when I am watching a movie from some source.

Both. I dual-monitor a single client, so I have heaps of space to organise all my intel. My ship, HUD, notification feed and targets are on my left monitor, a 32" LCD television, and various chat windows, overview, people&places combined with fleet, drone window combined with fleet watchlist, dscan window and inventory window persistently open on the right monitor, a 24" ASUS HDMI LCD. It makes frapsing my PVP and cropping the image to cut out secret stuff much easier. All you see in that vid is what I see on my left monitor.

Something about using a TV as a computer monitor just makes me think of my C64 days.

Sure, it's fun and all that, but it just doesn't have the same feel as using a real monitor.

Surrender is still your slightly less painful option.

Thats because of some conversions the TV has to do to display the pic. If set up correctly it'll look as good as a monitor. Or there is a software program you can download to adjust the input before it gets to the TV so its in the native input the TV understands.

Forgot the name of the software but its free.

I only use my TV for gaming when the game has controller support. I find it unwieldy to comfortably use my keyboard and mouse in front of the TV, so no EVE.

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?
