why not allow Alliances holding sovereignty over some territory to be able to emit it's own currency? Like empire use ISK, some alliance could reward members by some custom currency for achieving something - like killing enemy, mining over some quota, etc. True, there are some medals, but they can't be exchanged for a navy BS for example.

It wont solve any problem (except one, though loosely related), but will give another tool to players to generate content. Possibly new role will emerge - a true "Banker".

How about removing re-enforce timers entirely?

Shocked

If you can't defend a POS or system all the time, in every time zone, you don't deserve to keep it IMHO.

Re-enforce timers were a bad idea, allowing unrealistic force projection beyond what an alliance actually has. There were no re-enforce timers in WWI, WWII, Desert Storm etc etc. Why do they exist in EVE?

Think about it, Black Ops would become meaningful and viable; small alliances could do hit and runs behind enemy lines and stand a chance at actually shaking things up.

Alliances would have to be very careful about moving fleets out of home systems to attack enemies, because someone could slip in behind them. They would have to adapt and recruit across timezones, and not take space they couldn't defend.

You know, actuall real warfare tactics?

These re-enforce timers have created the null grind IMHO. Also this doesn't just apply to nullsec, remove re-enforce timers from hisec, losec and wormholes also -- you either can defend something you build, or you cant.

Before the "New Régime" back @j 6 years or so ago there were functioning banks in EVE. But with the coming of many nul sec adventures (too numerous to mention) they disappeared. Seems like a rehash of a squashed idea (squashed by guess who?). Or perhaps I should re-consider. Will they be tied to PLEX?

Perhaps put a floor on PLEX, say 2bill and this idea might work.Big smile

The truth is, a surprise attack fleet will always be more prepared than a response fleet, since they hold the initiative. The only way to balance the attack force and the defending force, not to mention the TZ differences between players, is to allow some form of RF timers.

At the same time, I fully support removing all sov RF timers in systems that are unused. Defining "using a system" isn't terribly easy, as the most blatant metric we have are the military and industry indexes, which are inadequate at revealing whether a system is used. In other words, using a system must include non-PvE activities as well as PvE activities. However we define "using a system", at the end of the day, if unused systems had no RF timers than anyone could surprise attack and destroy a Systems Sov, which would be a very good thing for this game!
