New year in Iceland

Hi all

For the second year in a row the missus and I will be taking new years 2012 in Reykjavik, to enjoy the awesome fireworks and the drinking till everybody falls over,

If anyone else is about we would love to meet up for food/booze and a general laugh !

This crucible expansion is reminding me of a new years list, and ccp is trying to complete thiers before the new year ticks over. A big race against time.

Thanks, Should be a blast . The missus and I had an awesome time last year ! for NYE did the whole recover at the blue lagoon and went back drinking again !

The missus wanted to see aurora but no joy, this year however we have our own wheels and I guess warm ICE coats again ! ha

Confirming that New Years in Iceland is extremely spectacular. I even know of a corporation who arrange New Years party in Iceland, and have corp members travel here, because of how awesome New Years is in the land of ice and fire Big smile

Hangover recovery in the blue lagoon is the way to go, especially if you rent a car so you don't have to get on a bus.

In general, renting a car around here is pretty decent. I had my folks over recently. We rented a car for 70 euros per day(It was a four-wheeler), and went driving wherever we wanted and saw beautiful things. It was good times. And you can often drop the car off in Keflavik, meaning if you have a noon/afternoon flight, you can drive to the airport instead of paying for overpriced bus tickets. I definitely recommend doing that. Cool

If i make it to my three year anniversary with my girlfriend. I will have to surprise her with a trip to Iceland. Going to have to see how great the fireworks are for her. The drinking is what has me sold Big smile.

Been to Vegas for New Years? I think the fireworks are launched from 7 or 8 hotel roofs.

The strip is closed to cars. My first year(7 years ago) they had 350,000 drunk people in the middle of the street. I was drinking 3 foot(that's like a meter) Frozen Mango Margaritas barely made it back to my hotel. Last year my got the flu and tryed to struggle through it, I only made it till 9:30. Had to go back to the room. Pulled the couch in front of the wall size window to watch the show. I was only able to see 3 of the displays from my window. Only missed 2 years since I started going, this year may be my third. Looks like I'll be freezing my Navitas off up north with the rest of you!

I read that Katla is getting ready to explode, how awsome wouldnt that be for new years? crap for europe and what ever airplane but still awsome for new years!!

that all ? doesnt even come close to the Whole frikkin island going nuts for hours and hours and hours..
beyond ANYTHING ever done elsewhere :)
