I think it's working well.

Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec and nullsec.

I haven't noticed any horrible issues. The last three expansions (Rubicon, Odyssey, Retribution) have been a little light on "new shiny stuff". It's not like rebalancing all the T1 ships (and thus making them all usable, rather than having the Navitas as that cute fish-shaped ship that nobody actually uses) actually changes the game at all, right?

As a professional salvager, I can't express in words just how much easier my life is now that the MTU is available. Sure, I'd like CCP to change the way it works a little (tractor furthest junk first please), but the auto looting function is magical! If you want to know how much nicer it is to salvage a wreck field now, just grab yourself a 10kg sledge hammer and lightly tap it against your knuckles. A 1m drop onto your fingers while they are resting on concrete should be enough. That's what life was like before the MTU. Now eat some Hoboken Crunch ice cream. That's life with the MTU. Sure, it's a little heavy on the caramel, but it's still gosh-darned awesome.

There are more people playing the game than just you. CCP is aware of that, and they're doing a good job of balancing their priorities (though the lack of development on Incarna does upset me and my love of playing with dolls).
