I will consider replacing the logo image for Eve Forums Gold. The cursive "Gold" script was never actually intended to be permanent, but it always seemed like there was "one more important thing" to do.

Would you like it to remain text of some sort, or to be replaced by an image logo of some kind?

seems to be broken since two days ago it stopped working Sad

As I slipped my finger slowly inside her hole, I could immediately feel it getting wetter and wetter.

I took my finger back out and within seconds she was going down on me.

"I really need a new boat," I thought to myself.

How so? It's still working for me in Chrome and Firefox. Could you post your browser, its version, and what exactly is not working?

Well I'm glad it works now, but that's still a bit vague. If it happens again, please specify details and I'll get right on it.

Hmm, now I'm seeing it too, though only on Chrome. Could you tell me the version of Chrome you're running, and the operating system? I suspect it affects certain versions of Chrome on Windows 7+.

Now that I've managed to reproduce it in some way, I will do my best to track it down.

This is bizarre. It appears that CCP have started using a thing called "rum.js", which stands for Real User Monitoring, a New Relic product meant to give them data about how their site works on peoples' computers. Something about RUM is interfering with Tampermonkey and preventing it from even loading the script. Even deleting the entire Eve Forums Gold code from the script itself still causes an error.

I will try to find a way around this, but it's quite the obstacle the CCP web dev folks have put in front of me.

Pushed the 0.2.4 update, fixing the issue as I was detecting it. The fix applied was:

  • Remove jQuery 2.x requirement, and associated jQueryUI
  • Use the non-sandboxed jQuery 1.x as provided by the Eve Forums

All should be well now.

I really like this script. Very nicely done - it adds a lot of great features to the Eve forums.

I did find one bug in the Greasemonkey script, however. It's in the create_faveadds() function. On my Firefox at least, the second GM_getResourceURL("bookmark_icon") is returning an "undefined" value, which in turn is placing a bunch of image-not-founds in the place of the pin icons on the front page.

Replacing that second GM_getResourceURL("bookmark_icon") with simply "img" fixes it. The resource gets called at the top of the function, no need to fetch it twice.

Woot! My life has meaning! \o/

I've been busy with some RL stuff recently, but I'm not dead yet! I need to do a programming sprint one of these days and do some code reorganization, which should nip in the bud any problems like the last bug EFG ran into.

I am not dead!

I have returned to you with a new version of Eve Forums Gold. This version is not backwards compatible with previous versions due to a major change in the way data is stored. This means you will lose all your EFG data (bookmarks, tags, canned messages, etc). Be prepared to reconstruct it. You can always keep running the legacy version 0.2.4 to access the old stuff, too.

Version 0.3.0 features:

  • Complete code V3-ification. EFG's code structure has been changed to be more self-consistent, with less spaghetti code and fewer nasty hacks.
  • Graceful sandboxing. Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey run EFG in a special environment for safety. EFG 0.3.0 has proper support for handling this sandboxing.
  • Less injected code. The amount of Javascript code injected into the forums page is drastically reduced because of the new sandbox handling. This is a matter of Good Coding Practices™, something all software projects could use more of.
  • Different storage system. Instead of using weirdly-implemented "localStorage", EFG 0.3.0 uses the Greasemonkey GM_getValue (and related) functions.
  • Better debugging infrastructure. Because bugs suck.
  • Added Eve Gate support. "gate.eveonline.com" has been added to the domains supported by EFG. This paves the way for features to enhance Eve Gate (though there are none of those right now). Ed: I lied, there is a feature that automatically transferred: the "go to last post" link in forum notifications will now work on Eve Gate pages as well as Eve Forums!
  • Bugfixing. Most of it incidental to the code refactoring.

tl;dr: Version 0.3.0 has a ton of "under the hood" changes with little visible feature change. However, it paves the way for more/better future development, and avoids future code structure problems equivalent to Eve's "no character switching".

Enjoy!

Let's brainstorm some Eve Gate features. The two pages I use most are the Profile and Mail pages. Here are some things I have in mind:

Profile page

  • Make the "Send a message" and "Add a contact" plus other links like that (below the portrait) look standardized no matter if it's your profile or someone else's profile that you're looking at. http://i.imgur.com/vXFyPIt.png
  • Add a variety of buttons to that menu, including links to EveWho, a killboard, Eve-search (because "Latest Forum Posts" is half-broken)
  • Extend the user tagging feature of EFG to cover peoples' name on their profile page, so you can see your delightful name tag there, too.

Mail page

  • Turn the names of people in the mail table into links to their profiles.

Notifications page

  • Add "go to last read post" links.

Miscellany

  • Create a "configuration menu" thing

That's all I got so far. Let me know if you have anything that you believe needs doing.
