While its fun to be in a huge fleet battle, the majority of people in the game will never be in one nor likely want to be in one so I doubt they're as exciting as you believe to everyone or responsible in any way for the majority of people joining EvE Online.

Having said that, in EVE you do what ever floats your boats so why argue over it anyway.

I get so many inquiries about recruitment I can guarantee you people want to be in these sort of fights.

people demanding their 200m fee back does not count as interest in sov fights :P

People only do that when they are dissatisfied, I make sure all my recruits are satisfied and ready to go.

When I started playing, I don't even know if any alliance HAD 10 Titans, let alone see 10 Titans go down in one fight.
Even a couple years ago, when I was in null, I still remember the 1st time I sidled up to a Titan for a jump. It was pretty damn cool.
Now, a couple years later, they are as common as carriers were 3 years ago.

While I too, would like to see a game with finite resources, I just don't know how the game mechanics would work.
But until CCP does something to curb the ease at which they are produced today, the shock and awe value of seeing one used, or destroyed, is pretty much zero.

If you look at the closest real world analogy we have today, what would be the impact if the u.s lost a Nimitz, or the Russians lost the Admiral Kuznetsov, or if the Brits lose the Queen Elizabeth (if they ever finish it)?
There would books written about it, movies made, heroes and goats immortalized forever.

Today, in Eve, I understand individual pilots have had multiple titans blown up from under them.
Kind of cheapens the whole thing, yet we have these null sec babies screaming about how important their gameplay is, and how it is the only thing saving Eve, and by extension, CCP, today.

And if you look at how the US navy grew in WW2, you'll realize that this isn't a new "problem" confined to EVE: http://www.history.navy.mil/branches/org9-4.htm
Look at the increases in the "U.S. Navy Active Ship Force Levels, 1938-1944" table. Then look at the decreases in the following chart for 1945-1950.

More is more.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

And..... they join, get into the actual fight, are disappointed, and then.... somehow they get told that highsec is to blame. Then it's "grrrr highsec" all over the forums.

Cool

What happens is they join have fun then go to make some money and see it can be done far easier with greater reward in highsec. The rest is just a natural response to a horrifying game destroying imbalance.

Problem is that at this point jumping in could be suicide. Getting stuck in the warp tunnel and not being able to lock and fire but still able to take damage and die is pretty sh*t.

The issue is still in doubt, but that is looking more and more likely to be the outcome.

Fleet doctrine being arbitrated in the only way that matters, right in front of our eyes.

1st step is to reduce the stockpile. At least some progress is being done.

I don't think killmails can be linked but there is a dead titan worth ~160b.

Yeah and it values the hull at 65b. Show me one titan sold in marketplace for less than 110

EVE-Kill is listing the most expensive kill today as 104B ISK. All top kills today are in B-R5RB. There may be a more expensive kill, but if so, it hasn't posted yet.

Yes, I see the massive buildup over WWII.
And the equally massive decline.
Canada at the end of WWII has the 3rd largest navy, based on the amount of anti-sub corvettes they used to escort convoys. Today, our Navy is a joke.

But my point about a supercarrier today being the equivalent of Eve's supercaps still stands.
As of today, I believe there are 6 supercarrier hulls being built in the world: 3 Gerald Ford hulls, 2 Queen Elizabeth hulls, and I believe the Chinese are working on their first domestically produced hull.
The three Gerald Fords are looking to be churned out in 2016, 2020, and 2025, basically one every 5 years.
Yes it is peace time, and if a cold war with China every geared up, output would increase.

But they are still a massive massive industrial under-taking, and the Eve equivalents should be more difficult to churn out than they are today.

How many of the supposedly 16 Titan pilots today who have lost one will be back in another tomorrow?

The entire idea that Titans are essentially a throw-away toy has reduced any idea that these fights are relevant to a total joke. That and the fact that even if this battle dealt a crippling blow to either side's supercap fleet, the Blue Blanket deal that goons and PL inked last week forbids either side attacking the other's home systems.

This fight is just an expensive thunderdome.

12-6 N3PL seem to be every so slightly killing at a faster clip than CFCRUS are.

Could be very interesting evening ahead....

(added note. Don't try and get through immensia without a cyno bridge/jump every gate is traffic copped and a turkey shoot.)
