dumb no effort equipment be dumb and require no effort.

perhaps if they were intelligent in the order they dragged wrecks they would be too good next to active player salvaging.

Just out of curiosity, would anyone else like to see MTUs changed so they go for the farthest wreck first instead of the closest? This would eliminate the amusing-but-annoying 'ping-pong' behavior when you drop two near each other and they simply transfer the same 2 or 3 wrecks back and forth. I don't actually use MTUs all that often, but it would be a nice quality of life change.

On the other hand, maybe this behavior was intentional?

I would welcome this change and it should be super easy to implement.

The ability for everyone and their allies to legally counter-gank mission invaders... yes please. Add a Suspect Flag for Mission Invasion

What if instead of changing the current MTUs, a new one was added which would do exactly what you are proposing?

That way smaller/faster ships could make better use of a drop/scoop/redrop approach for larger fields yet with the current tractors and larger ships wanting to deploy multiple MTUs could use the furthest first ones instead?

This option would also create the opportunity for additional balancing of the distance first MTUs.
- Give them faster tractor speeds than the basic one.
- Easier to scan down than the current ones (since people seem terrified that the fields will get cleaned too fast)
- Larger physical size to limit the quantity which they are used in tandem with each other.
- Larger "ignore" range (15k instead of 5k) so they can be set up nearer to each other without interfering
- Higher cost

This would also let CCP create a "new" deployable module for relatively minimal effort, much like the new Siphons.
