I can not emphsise what many of the posters before me have said. Fly what you can afford to lose and pratice in cheap ships before you buy an expensive one.

There is a reason that some frigates cost more than most cruisers, and some cruisers cost more than most battleships, and so on and so forth. You should use that price as a guage. If a frigate costs as much as a cruiser, that means that you should not be tryng to fly that frigate until you are flying crusers of that price range. The frigate is not expensive just to rob your wallet. It is priced at that level because it is considered to be about as capable as the like-priced cruisers.

I know when you are new ot the game you want to get in the nice and shiney ships. Thats what modivates many of us to keep playing. However, listen to the vets here and just wait. The ships will nto be taken out of the game. They will be there when you are not only better able to afford them, but appreciate their abilities as well.

Having non-combat support skills to level 5 would help you keep your ship longer too. But have fun!

Not to be a buzzkill but you will lose it. Just prepare yourself financially before you take the plunge.

Lots of good experienced people here.

Not telling anyone the path they should take but..
Try getting the engineering/support skills and tanking skills up first, then work on the turrents.
If there is a problem fitting proper tank and turrent, then it's just blaster bait.

I can fly faction very well with my skills, but I still fly a Rifter and have alot of fun.
And if I lose it, I'm only out a few hundrend thousand, and still have fun.
(I buy them by the dozen.. Lol)

But, in the end, the pilots call and how much ISK one wants to spend.

Good luck.

The Succubus was my first faction frigate. I used it for low level mission running and combat exploration sites. For those purposes it is definitely better than the standard T1 frigates! It is a bit slow, yes, but fit with BEAMS for PvE (until you can use T2 pulses with Scorch crystals) and it has good range and decent damage. The fit up above is a good one for PvE stuff.

For PvP... It is underwhelming. I'd rather bring a Rifter or Merlin to be honest. The extra cost doesn't justify the nominal performance bump you might get.

That said, if you can afford it and it's fun (the Succubus is one of the best looking frigates in the game, it is awesome!) then go for it.
