Hello everyone!

I'm a very new pilot and I'm really loving the idea of the themes behind the Sansha and the Blood Raiders. I'm currently working on trying to be able to run pirate missions so that I can build up to flying either Sansha or Blood Raider ships. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on mission running setups for the frigates of both those factions for a very new player. :)

Thank you all for any info and suggestions! :D :D

If u are new player definitely stick to standard ships and try to get to battlecruiser ASAP so u can run lvl 3-4 missions.
there is no point in running lvl 1-2 missions => frigs are useless for PVE.

Factions frigs and their bonuses are ment for PVP anyway.

Also i dont recomend flying any faction skill unless u have all related skills to lvl 5.

I'm glad you feel this way. :) And I think if that's the way you feel, then more power to you. However, I plan on flying one as soon as I can afford / am trained for it. New or not.

One thing I've learned in MMOs is to play it how I want to since I'm paying for it. :D

I'm trying to decide if that was a threat to kill me or an offer to show me how to fly the ship properly. lol

I would take that as both a threat and an offer >:)

Play the game the way you want to play it, but be aware paying 60-90mil ISK for a faction frig hull and getting it killed the first time you take it out usually makes you enjoy the game less... especially since you could have fit out 50 regular frigs for that price...T2 fit...with rigs...

I love the Phantasm and the Nightmare...and I can afford to take say 15 phantasms into combat or 3 nightmares before i run out of ISK...but for the same money I can field 50 T2 fit battle-cruisers...and a few BSs...

Since all I do is pew pew and that tends to lead to losing ships...I would rather fly the 50 BCs for a year than make isk

And one thing you'll learn in EVE is to listen to advices, even from bittervets.

Buy, failfit and fly your succubus as you wish. You WILL lose it.
A bored thrasher pilot can pop it anytime to add a shiny rare ship to his killboard.
Lack of experience can get you pwnd by npcs or concord, etc etc.

I don't mean you should not do it however, I for one love doing L2 / L3s in a Wolf or something, but this is not an all-new player's hobby. If I lose a Wolf I take one of the other 10 waiting.
Before you lose your Succubus, make sure you're not back to trying to make money in a punisher.

It was more of a promise. In dying you would hopefully learn a valuable lesson so the next time you'd die in a subtly different way.

Have fun and live up to your corp name, one of three things will happen but all will be fun:

1) You'll burn out from having to rebuild that pile of isk after each loss
2) You'll decide that you will learn more in cheaper hulls (after all the first few dozen engagements are really a learning experience, if you can go out every day you learn more than if you can go out and fight once a week)
3) You'll become *really* good at making ISK (several ways to do that) and you'll play things your way and get every naysayer to shut their trap Pirate

Whatever you do, have fun.

The Succubus can run missions pretty well, the Cruor? Not so much. It's built more for PvP, in a very specific role.

Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/

This is pretty much the minimal fit I'd ever put on a Succubus, even for PvE:

[Succubus, L1 fun]
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II

1MN Afterburner II
Medium Shield Extender II
Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II
Invulnerability Field II

Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch S
[empty high slot]
[empty high slot]

Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
Small Core Defence Field Extender I
Small Core Defence Field Extender I

Yes, solid T2. At least get your skills up that far before trying it.

Honestly, neither the Succubus nor the Cruor are all that great. The Succubus is slow and just doesn't have the gank to really bring it. The Cruor has pretty much no PvE use, which relegates it to niche PvP (usually to kill other shiny faction frigates).

But hey, enjoy the game your way.

Well if you plan on flying a faction frigate, at least please train with a T1 rifter or punshier, or such and get your frigates stills to lvl 5.

Now it all depends what you plan on flying the frigate for. like they said most faction frigates are meant for PvP, but if you plan ong for flying for PvE the Worm. maybe Comet, or Slicer would do alright I guess.

For PvP I perfer a Daredevil, but moany like the Dramiel, though it will be nerfed soon. I do think it still will be ok after the nerf but not the same. The Comet is good too and soon will be even better, the Slicer and Firetail aren't bad either. For the Sansha and Blood Raiders boats you rarely see them, but try you never know.

I really do stress learning to fly a T1s first well and maybe T2s before you head into faction, assault ships and interceptors are great ships all in all.

Hope I helped

Training up to fly battlecruisers as fast as possible will leave a hole in your various fitting skills. Flying a BC doesn't mean anything if you can't fit medium weapons, shields, reppers, etc. Flying a, for a new player, "shiny" Harbinger, doesn't really matter much if you can't realisticly engage other BC's or cruisers.

The same is true for lvl 3-4 missions. If your in a group, no problem. Solo, a new player is likely to die, very fast. Plus you start to see elite frigate/cruisers that that use various Ewar. i.e. Jam, web, point, etc,.

Listen to everyone that says, "don't go for the expensive faction ships, wait and get experience in smaller cheaper ships." Most faction frigates have no real use in PVE and limited PVP roles. Make sure you can T2 fit any faction fit ship you decide to get before you take it out, as people will try and kill you for the shiny kill mail. Eventually, you will die, you will lose your ship, this is unavoidable.

Remember Rule #1: Don't fly anything you can't afford to lose.

Thank you all for the wonderful advice and suggestions! I'm training Amarr frigate to 5 right now and then I will be training Minmatar frigate to 5. After that Caldari Frigate to 5. Once those three are done, then I will be training support skills for lasers, energy stuff and then tanking skills. Like armor and shields. Until then, I will be flying a Punisher, Rifter, and Kestrel.

If you haven't already found it, check out http://eve.battleclinic.com/browse_loadouts.php. There are some decent fits for the Cruor and Succubus which you can tailor to what modules you can actually fit.

Also, keep up the good attitude. I fly whatever I feel like and have a great time doing it. Vagabond for L3 missions? Sure! Dramiel for L2 & L3s? Sure! Why? Because the ships look awesome, it's fun, and because I can. All the haters can sit and spin. Big smile

Update!

My first frigate lvl 5 finishes training tomorrow morning. It will be Amarr Frigate 5. After that I will work on some capacitor skills and laser skills. Then I will be going back to Minmatar do to similar. I figured once I get the main support skills out of the way then getting each frigate to 5 is the next no brainer. Once I have them, I can fly them with whatever tank they deserve and whatever weapon system works for them.

I hope to be able to go exploring lawless space this weekend!
