Just looking at the numbers they are not great. Five light neuting drones will kill 25 capacitor every six seconds. A T2 small neut kills 54 cap every six seconds. You are in essence getting less then half a small neut in very weak hitpoints drones. For this dubious privelige you are also giving up 80-100 DPS in combat drones. Ugh

Keep in mind, a small Nuet is only effective to about 6k, and it costs your ship 45 in order to nuet 54.

Drones cost you nothing (save the DPS reduction) and their effective range is much greater.

Day in day out, I'll go for DPS first. On a drone boat, however, it's nice to throw some EV-s into the mix.

I carry EV-300 on certain ships and they have their roll.

Beside the debate about their usefulness though, the issue at hand is whether they are 'bugged' or not.

From my own experience, they are not bugged specifically. I had fights that lasted minutes where I had the EV-300s constantly neuting the target through out the entire fight.

However, it does happen occassionally that drones just stop doing anything, for whatever the reason - this applies to ALL drones, not just EV-series. Maybe someone knows specific scenario they can reproduce for this to happen, but I don't know why. But whether PvP or PvE or whatever, drones (in general) sometimes just don't work regardless of your settings, and they just sit there idling.

So if your neut drones stopped working, it could be one of those cases where drone AI has just gone wonky as they do at times.

But EV-300, which is the class of drones in question here, do not stop after one cycle of neut. I've used them in many fights (well not great many but at least over 20 kills) and I never had issue with them.

No, they are crap and you'd have won all 20 of those fights probably more easily if you'd used damage or EC-300s.

EV, SW, TD, TP, and SD drones of all sizes are all completely useless and need rebalancing. The first thing needs removing is the stacking penalties. Then the numbers for speed, hitpoints and above all their effects need looking at - I'm guessing drones overall are planned to get a rework very soon (hopefully Ewar drones included too) given how much extra lag they are now contributing to Null blob wars.

Just that CCP is unable to do anything quickly anymore.

Did someone in this thread try to maintain that neut drones weren't awful?

Because they would be wrong.

no not so much that they are great, and I would have to agree that in those fights where I won with neut drones I probably could have done it with hobs or warriors. But my main point was that they are 'working', i.e. not bugged and stop functioning after one cycle.Of course, I would be happy for drone balance in general and some improvement on e-war drones.
