Next question is: What is the actual number for large-scale player engagement?

Probably considerably less than what was actually involved. There were almost 300 parties on the Nyx killmail in question.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Of any kind.
So I'm confused as to why you're arguing so vehemently against me when I'm also saying that we shouldn't be reimbursed under this policy.
My point is, he shouldn't have been either. The policy doesn't say "except when there's a bug", it says "any losses of any kind resulting from a large-scale player engagement are not covered".

Yes, resulting from, not occurring within the context of.

The smart bomb bug was not the result of a large-scale player engagement. It would have happened if the SC and the people shooting it were the only people within 20 jumps. It was a result of a mistake in CCP's code, of course they'll reimburse it.

Lag and unresponsiveness are the result of large-scale player engagements; specifically, the results of actions ordered by people who are experienced enough and senior enough to know perfectly well how their orders will affect the servers. Lag and unresponsiveness are the result of players overloading systems that work entirely as advertised, so the fault lies with the players, and CCP will not reimburse.
