If anything miner bumping brings up costs which make me (the miner) more money. Make it like PI (slow death) prices go way up. Demand x time= fat profit. Slowing down the industry makes demand higher for ore, ships, moduals.... so go right ahead, make my wallet.

I have said before that I think moon goo should be turned in PI.

At least way the isk goes bottom up instead of top down, lots more ships to shoot and less pos's.

The downside would most likely be an increase in T2 ships and mods but you know what, I think I could live that Big smile

Move mining to Dust 514. That will
a) perk up Dust, and
b) would mean that suicide ganking mining ships would instead require EVE Valkyrie to fly to the (now dreadnaught sized) mining ship to cut a hole in the hull to engage in an EVE flavored FPS version of SpaceHulk with Oculus Rift support.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

That would also tie the fate of EVE to the fate of DUST.

I would rather we did not tie EVE (which is dying) to DUST (which is dead).

I prefer the state of "Dying" which EVE has been doing for a decade now.

I don't think Miners have ever used the word "fun" to describe what they do, usually. They just do it because they prefer it to the alternatives, or because of the money they make or some such.

I mean, I can understand it somewhat. I once thought of doing it, as the money (in theory) sounded pretty good. What stopped me was realizing how mind-numbingly boring it actually is. I don't even get to see things explode!

I'm one of those odd balls that think mining and production are fun. It's what got me into the Eve in the first place. I've branched out and done other things over the last couple of years, but I still come back to industry. I think EVE has the best set up of any game I've seen for it since the first Everquest. Why don't you just consider PI and moon goo the alternative to mining?

They are diverse methods of extraction ranging from passive to active.

I'm not saying mining shouldn't be reviewed, but is it really a priority. It's a casual form of gameplay some people enjoy and others want to eradicate.

Why would you kill the peasants who both seed your market and provide low-level entertainment?

Relative to the big MMOs and micro-transaction Facebook games EVE is already dead. It's just fortunate that "Dying" is enough to keep the game borderline financially viable, possibly indefinitely.

The scary bit is when people try to revive a "Dying" game by bring out the new shiney all Bells and Whistles version II with totally new game engine and awesome features ... often these crash and burn and bring the original game down with them :D

I. If everyone is doing it, the market crashes.

This is my oversimplified analysis.

No kidding. Show us all these market crashes the past 10 years............

You're implying that everyone is mining and doing so passively. I might be misinformed on this topic but it wasn't my impression.

Your statement makes absolutely no sense.

YOU implied that everyone is passively mining in YOUR post.

Jesus.

He didn't. He implied that if it was like PI, everyone would be passively mining and mineral prices would crash. He's right and wrong both at the same time. He's right because everyone would do it, same as most people have PI alts or do PI. He's wrong because like PI, supply of minerals would be limited, so CCP would be able to fiddle with values to ensure a relatively stable price.

Thing is mining is a profession, unlike PI, one that some people have invested a lot of SP into. I didn't get Capital Industrial and Industrial Core level V only to have them made irrelevant.

Besides, people say mining is boring but I don't agree. It's not much different to anything else you do constantly for hours at a time, day after day. It gets old regardless.
