Ice compression versus Ore compression.

I find it silly that it takes me 2 hours and 40 some minutes to compress 250k m3 of ice with a researched BPO, while it would only take me almost 10 minutes to do the same with the lowest compression ratio Ore with an unresearched BPO.
As it stands it takes little over 13 hours to compress a single ice belt spawn in null sec. ~5million m3 of ice.
If it was ore, longest it would take me to compress that would be about 56 minutes. (5mill divided by 4 compression lines gives us 1.25mill per line, gives us 5 runs of 240k m3 which takes 9.6 minutes per run with the remaining from all lines combined into a single run of 200k m3 which would take 8 minutes.)

I recall a post somewhere, where a CCP member stated that "it was stupid before, and stupid needs to be fixed", I believe this is a good case of stupid that needs to be fixed.

I got an idea that might fix that.
Reducing the timers on the ice will not work, unless you feel max speed of 3 seconds per block to make it on par with ore is all right.
What I have in mind are batch jobs per run. For example, change the input requirement of the ice compression Blueprints so that instead of 1 block of ice per run, make it require say 20 blocks of ice, and have the output as 20 compressed blocks. this way the only changes need to be done are on the blueprints and maybe a little backend tweaking here and there.
This, I believe, will bring ice in-line with the rest of the compression family.

As far as I remember it was a "bug".
The first Ice compression BPO made a single compressed block with ten units of the raw ice.
Instead of balancing it like 10 blocks become to 10 pressed blocks, they changed it to 1 to 1. With the same time :D

a compression of 10 raw units to 10 pressed blocks would be much better...

never compressed ice myself, but I thoroughly support this.

"it is stupid, and stupid needs to be fixed"

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

This would be a good fix. I don't compress at present, but the difference does seem extreme. If it is intentional, I would love to know the reasoning.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

i agree +10 a friend has to press my ice after i give him a batch off near 1mio m3 i need to pay 60.000.000 isk for his time

your friend is not really a friend.
the Rorqual has 4 production lines and a ore cargo bay of 250k m³
Fill it to the top, start 250 blocks of compression, repeat it 4 times = 1 Mio m³ ice...
go afk and let the ship do its work... after ~3 hours you have to return, deliver all 4 lines one click and earn 60 Mio ISK for doing nothing?

oh, the fuel consumption of 5 Mio ISK has not be mentioned, sorry!

in this time he could fly anos making around 75.000.000 ISK per Hour

60mill for the job isn't too much to ask for really. Unless it is the ISO ice.

Except he still can, because he doesn't need to click once the job is started.

I don't care about the ISK... I hate the compression itself. It is nearly much "click-work" like invention fast modules... 100 clicks per char per hour ^^
