Not neccaseraly no, but they will never fix lag/tidi with the current software because of single threading. So building new (multithreading) technologie for new space seems pretty likely to me.

They will never fix lag period, because so many people connect at once.

Like even more than Obamacare.

are serious business sir.

Making "EVE 2.0" is too hard and requires too much time and resources. CCP cannot stray from their "5 year roadmap" that gives us personal Stargates and wormhole space 2.0.

This is nothing more then a rumor...

hahahaha 5 year road map.. hahahaha

Yeah, is this is same company that had the vision of WIS?

I would hope you would have the ounce of intelligence necessary to discern how these two situations are more than a little different.

Seriously what the ****, ccp? If it 404s when I try to post why must I wait out your stupid timer?

lol... bad isn't it when you try and defend CCP and their forums have a fit.

I thought I was defending CCP. I was pointing out how the situations are different. Their vision for WiS was scrapped because of player outrage and overwhelmingly negative feedback, particularly since it was so closely tied to the Aurum/NEX Store scandal. By contrast their latest plan has been received rather positively.

NO, the WIS was scrapped because after years of Hype and money being spent the only thing we got was a room with a closed door and burnt out graphic cards.

You honestly think that if CCP delivered a rich full WIS environment as envisaged that players would of wanted it to be scrapped?

You know that thingy when youre docked and you can walk in station? That is an entirely different engine on the same shard.
…except that WiS is handled separately from space, so it's not the same as having new systems.

brutalbutneutral wrote:
If it works on the new space then they would use it for normal space indeed. They need something to massive test it so this would be ideal.
No, it would be utterly stupid. If it can't be used for normal space, it can't be used, period.

For massive tests, there is Singularity.

beyond being handled separately from space, isnt WiS STILL the CARBON Engine? just using different assets and mechanics, which is why characters still "float" on an XYZ axis instead of actually walking with any weight?

Also WiS is handled client-side as i recall (just a clarification of what Tippia said)

Ok, did not know this. Thanks for the clarification! So then no. EVE (2.0) wont happen. Post can be closed.

As much as I LOVE the idea of new spaces... it would be nice if I saw more than 1 person every 15 jumps in nullsec before that happened.

I have seen new engine, here. Unfortunately, it's not about New Eden. :(

incentives need to be created for people to go to those systems. if only a few out of a few hunded systems are any good don't expect to find tons of people in each system. Organizations in eve have grown so large that there really isn't enough space. or random breaks in space to create power vacumes ect.

Terrible troll.

We are talking about people who add "extra materials" to blueprints because they can't be bothered to go back and change the base blueprint numbers.
People who sell lag as a "fix" for poor coding.
People who's five year plan is five years behind.

Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see EvE 2.0, unless a new company builds it.

Eh… you do understand why “extra materials” were added, right? It has nothing to do with not being bothered to change stuff, but with actually bothering to do it right

And never once have they sold lag as a fix for anything.

It's not incentive people need - it's balls.

They need to do something.
EVE is becoming outdated.

More moving parts
More physics
Option to actually fly and use countermeasures

If you're somehow suggesting we're still on the exact same engine as in 2003, please go sit in a corner can think about what you just suggested.

According to the login screen it would seem that we passed "EVE 2.0" years ago, and are now in fact playing EVE 8.0

I think you have no clue about developing software.

Compare eve 1.0 back in 2003 and now 2014 this is version 2.0 done. end of debate. If you don`t know how code`s or machine code`s work don`t ask. If you think eve is based on a unreal ENGINE. Its not a Engine. Eve have no engine. Well tidi is a engine. But eve is not. Eve is a group code thats why its so hard to crack it. < cheaters you know. Based on group the pull one out made a new and put that back in.

Supercaps have waay too much EHP is why theres soo many dudes in a big fight and so much tidi. All they gotta do is nerf carriers and supercaps and fights would be back to manageable levels.

what huh i never!

Ofcourse there's an engine. Every game has an engine. The eve engine fires python and while python is fine, this is happening:

'in any Python program, no matter how many threads and how many processors are present, only one thread is being executed at any time.'

Python experts have crafted a standard answer: "Do not use multiple threads. Use multiple processes."

In a single shard environment this means you need a lot processors in order to proces all the single threads.

This..

As a new player, with a GTX780Ti, I've been doing some checking on disappearing window bugs that are related to Direct X 11.. complaints that have been reported for a couple years now, that still are not fixed. CCP's fix is to tell people to downgrade to DX9, which has it's own set of issues, like frame drops leaving stations and gates (which don't happen in the DX11 client btw).

FTFY. Lag is a fact of life, latency will always exist in some format. TiDi is a fantastic solution - I can tell you never saw the old days.
