As seen here

What nefarious activities will such a device lead to?

Paired with mobile depots, msi, & a deep safe spot. I bet some1 could hide a dunk fleet of epic proportions.

Ultimate bait box.

step 1: roll wh into hostiles.
step 2: determine grid boundaries. grid a = wh grid, grid b = staging grid.
step 3: anchor both msi & large t2 bubble on grid b right at the boundary.
step 4: have dunk/slowcat/murder fleet on grid b close the boundary.
step 5: position bait on grid a & some cans right at the edge of the invisible drag bubble.

ofc:
When the murder fleet = victims
Cross over the grids to loose points & locks. Warp away in style.

As I understand grid mecanics, this is not possible, as a object placed on a grid "boundary" expands the grid.

Then you don't understand grid mechanics

Read my bio. tldr, grid a is usually 300k out. you have to crush it by getting onto grid b & then expanding that one.

Honestly I don't see it changing stuff that much.

It will raise alarm bells just by being there (after say the first week, when I bet there will be one in every system that someone had been in). Maybe not as much as seeing 15 caps, but people will know something is up. And 30km isn't a huge distance either. Maybe make scouting a pain, not as much as the decoys I've heard about.

Then again baddies will be bad and I bet there will also be hilarious stories to be told with them.

if you set the grid edges in advance, objects stop expanding the original grid.

We already have other ways to see if sites are being run, wormnav for 1.

Any good scout knows sites are being run in the first 2 minutes, if anything the unit makes it easier for the hunter because the thing itself is visible on dscan... The thing is useless and I think ccp is releasing crap just to release something.

I'm with Red on this one. Not only is it visible on dscan its super easy to probe...

If anything it gives the hunters an easier way to pick/find a target faster. Just another useless addition.

I think there's a lot of misunderstanding of this thing, even if the rules for it change.

It expires. You may see them scattered about a system while you're in it, yes anything could be there, but you know someone was there recently, which is more than enough for any WH entity to go on. Ratters won't rat there and those on the hunt will form up/scout w/e.

If you truly want to hide, doing it on grid with something that's easier to probe and warp to than your ship is may not be that wise.

Depending on how Fozzie clarifies, it may make sleeper farmers safer - we don't know if it obscures cosmic sigs aswell as ships - but I see limited use for it in w-space.

Nice idea but I questing the implementation. It should be a long lasting structure that can be re-scooped and it shouldn't show up on D-scan.

I agree with this. I wouldn't mind if it were still able to be probed, but have it so you don't know its there till you probe.

Yeah like the dude has any idea what he is talking about... Like I said, it makes it easier for others, not for the guy running sleepers.

CCP needs to stop acting like they know with those ridiculous statements.

Yup, if you see one of these things on dscan it's a big sign of "Someone was here in the last two hours." Since you basically know that someone's active when you see the thing, it's kind of pointless.

It's basically putting up a "nothing to see here, move along" sign. Obviously there's something to see, otherwise you wouldn't bother putting up the sign.
