In the forums I recommend to players they tank their barges, and again the suggestions are most unheeded.

179 mill is a large loss ? geez some ppl need to get some perspective.

Even on the scale of high sec ganking the New Order activities are "Big Frog in Little Puddle" stuff. I suppose you could see New Order as a training ground for ppl moving on eventually to 'nado gangs or something.

Serious ganking is stuff like a friend of mine who sells mulibillion BPOs by contract for a cheap but not suspicious price then logs in his ganking alt and waits for the buyer to try and move it. At least 50% of the time he gets the BPO back to sell again. He then contacts the victim with his original alt and says he "knows a merc that will kill the ganker for a bounty by contract" and kills his first alt with a second alt, getting rid of the killmail and getting paid a few hundred million bounty.

He seems to make quite a few billion a week doing this and isn't even on that often. Seriously someone wasting an hour bumping a noob in a mining ship to collect 10 mill extortion money is small scale stuff.

Hell, I lose a 200M ISK ship without even blinking... And I'm space-poor right now.

I think part of the problem is that the miners that are getting educated about the New Order & The Code don't see the nifty scams like the one you describe. Hell, I bet even most of the victims of that scam don't realize they've been 'had.' So they've got no scale by which to compare troubles.

Haven't read the whole thread it's long. Here are a fee random thoughts.

1. Sociopaths are people too. Estimated 1 - 3% pf the population in fact. This does not make them bad people. To gain an insight into what being a sociopath us like my I recommend www.sociopathworld.com. I don't see why it is acceptable to use sociopath as an insult.
2. Anyone who takes the time to think about it can work out how to make a pretty good profit from suicide ganking. Unfortunately I doubt any of the people that complain about it would be willing to do so. Hint... Do you think the New Order doesn't have an industrial wing?
3. I suspect the main cause of player burnout is repetition. Most ganking characters are alts. What a banker gets out if it is quite likely a change of pace from whatever sov-grind, plex farming, solo roaming etc they normally do.

Thjs is true. Normally, when I get tired of (helping) run my corp, I join Bomber's Bar for a bit of good old-fashioned mayhem. Or maybe I'll take a joyride through Nul in a tin rocket, taunting folks as I go - that's usually good for a few giggles. Or I'll fire-up my gank-alt and go give a few folks a dose of reality.

Does seem to settle the nerves and revitalize the old soul...

I don't really feel like Ganking belongs in the NPE, except perhaps as a reference.

It's not what I'd call a "core" part of what the NPE is for; which is learning how to actually operate the game, not play it in every aspect known to man.

That said they could be more explicit in informing new players that High Sec != Safe which is really the lesson to be learned.

This is the third thread about this in less than 24 hours.

I find it more sociopathic to refuse to take any action to defend yourself and be suprised when you get rolled.

that doesn't even make any sense. At least learn definition of sociopath and you won't make yourself look like an idiot when you say "its fine".

I agree with OP. This game has been rewarding for sociopaths who do not put themselves in any risk for far too long.

Sociopaths have it very easy and it is pretty ridiculous the number of grief monkeys who somehow think high-sec pirates should have it so easy as they do. Sociopaths have flocked to this game because they know they can get away with ******* people over without putting themselves in any risk at all. Pretty sad and pathetic, along with the no-life forum dwellers who these broken mechanics.

I nearly crapped myself laughing reading this, thinking of a kid sitting in his mother's basement typing FURIOUSLY at his keyboard to let the online sociopaths have it good and proper, banging the keyboard so hard empty juice boxes and hot pocket wrappers went flying everywhere Twisted

How does a team responsible for managing the NPE create a tutorial for ganking?

Ganking is learned either by ganking or being ganked (by another player).

The current rule set prevents aggression against rookie players in rookie systems and therefore can not be taught as part of the NPE.

Have a nice day.

Do you seriously think that a noob can't be sent on a mining mission, and, as a part of that mission, an NPC 'player' can't come in and gank them?

How do you think so little of CCP's programmers and their capabilities?

Getting killed by an NPC and ganked by a player are 2 very different experiences.

Maybe if the mission lied and didn't warn the new player about the incoming buttsecks. The NPC would need to send a form letter and "gfgfgf" in local as well.

I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them. As always I let some edge cases stay.
Please people, keep it on topic and above all civil!

The rules:
3. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

7. Use of profanity is prohibited.

The use of profanity is prohibited on the EVE Online forums. This includes the partial masking of letters using numbers or alternate symbols, and any attempts at bypassing the profanity filter.

+1 for ISD Ezwal, certain things should never have been posted, including my own replies to the some of the posts in question.
