Where to go from here for PVP

Hey guys, need some advice. Right now, I plan to run Incursions for a few weeks for loadsamoney, and then... I don't know.

http://eveboard.com/pilot/Boern_Leedah

My current plan is:

> Train up Thermodynamics so I can overheat (hence Science IV)
> Train up drone skills so I can use T2 Mediums (and have decent (L3-L4) drone support skills)
> Train Caldari Battleship so I can go to Nightmares

But after that, I draw a blank. I intend to make this into a PVP character; here's a few ideas I'm looking at.

> Train Projectile Turrets (since those are the preferred pew pew for PVP)
>Bite the bullet and start training my Leadership skills some more, so I can reach the next tier of ____ Warfare skills and become a really good booster (and then, I suppose, train Wing Command V for a month (bleh) so I can train Fleet Commander)
>Train subs up to be a better Legion pilot

Any input from you guys? And alternative ideas?

If you aim at PVP, skip Nightmare and Caldari BS. You've got no use for those... except perhaps ECM armor Scorp, but those are a big fleet thing. Yes for projectiles, no for leadership skills - you've got offgrid links for those. Especially you won't need fleet commander skill for a long time. Legion isn't your prime choice for pvp either. Go train minmatar, mmkay?

So your advice is to completely ignore the training I've done for a year, and basically start anew?

I'll pass.

EDIT: Let me clarify, if I wanted to start from scratch, I'd just make a new alt, but I don't have the time/ISK to support that.

So you're going to use Raven or Rokh in PvP? Good luck. There are a lot of Caldari ships that are good for PvP, but battleships do not belong to that class. Nightmare? Well, if you got the ISK and love to be repeatedly primaried, why not.

No, I'm 100% Amarr trained. Gunnery Skills all to L5, Large Laser (both beam and pulse) Spec to IV; All racial subcaps to L5, Command Ships to IV, Assault Ships to IV, Intys to IV... Why would I use a Raven or Rokh?

Did you even look at my EB? EDIT: Don't answer that question, clearly you didn't.

Well I just thought that training Caldari BS is bullshit if you're aiming at PvP. It doesn't get you anything you need there. That's all. I think your skill set is great already.

I'm training it for Nightmares, and all Sansha ships. If I'm going to be running Incursions for a while (as OP says), I figure I might as well do it just for the sake of speeding up missions. That said, I'm already in an Armageddon Navy, and maybe you're right that the extra DPS isn't worth training up the skills (and the time that involves).

I suppose that if I continue just doing mainly VGs, a Nightmare is lacking usefulness. And if it's really that bad/easy to lose in PVP, then I'll skip that.

Based on your skills:

Pick an Amarr ship you can afford to lose on a regular basis. (( Could even be a navy BS if you got the income ))

Get a perfect fit that you can lose without crying.
I stick with the rule parts should cost no more then 2x the ship cost.

Once you have you goal for your pvp ship train every effecting skill to 5.

End result is you can fly one nice ship.

If that is not to your liking start working on a capital fit.

If you want learn to PVP join a PVP corp like Sniggwaffe (google their recruitment app or join their in game channel) - don't join a we do a bit of everything corp, they'll normally lack both focus and knowledge level.

Regarding what you'll need/want to fly Amarr is a nice place to start, consult your new PVP corp on cross training (Minmatar comes to mind). Just remember that no matter what pimp ship you bring you will be able to loose it (quiet often pretty fast), so fly things you can afford to loose without going emo about it. Such cheap ships could be the likes of frig hulls (t1, t2 or faction), t1 cruisers, t1 BC's and interdictors. All these ships will provide you with decent options in most fleets.

Regarding skills, you have a nice basis. Below are some suggestions regarding PVP skills:
Prereq's for dic's and HIC's
Tactical Shield Manipulation IV = t2 invuls
Cloaking IV for covert ops cloak
Consider training cybernetics V - it opens up some decent options
Biology skill - and if you have the isk the other drug related skills
Thermodynamics IV/V (which you mentioned) - taking the two other related skills to lvl IV is fast
Your drone skills in general will need a quick overhaul. Look up which skills are recommened for light and medium drones.

I hope this helps bit.
