I had to move eve from one HDD to another and did so by simply copying the eve folder. When i started EVE from the new HDD all settings were lost wether graphic settings or (even worse) overview settings and chatchannels.

where are these settings stored? since i copied the whole folder im kinda surprised, that the settings are missing.

Thanks =)

They are not stored in the game directory but instead in a backup folder.

Drive letter:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\e_program_files_ccp_tranquility_tranquility\settings

Then you select the character that is linked to your ID.

I looked that folder up but \e_program_files_ccp_tranquility_tranquility doesn't exist. Also, why would EVE use another setting file when i only moved the game folder?

strange =/

Honestly I've never fully understood why Eve uses a separate file for it's saves. Try searching around in the AppData\Local on your main drive and see if you can find it. It does require that you enable hidden folders, that may be why you can't find it.

Alot of games (by alot, I mean nearly all) use more than one location for install data and user defined data, that is to say that things like save games, settings, screenshots, mod files, maps, logs, etc are often saved in a location seperate from where the game is actually installed on a hd. It's actually pretty common.

The location Templar referred to works for windows 7, and assumingly for windows vista and 8. Windows XP maybe in another spot. Also, AppData is a hidden folder, so you need to change your folder settings to allow you to see hidden files and folders before it will show up.

just search for "core_char_" file name and you should find it somewhere.

Its sorta a mess in that AppData folder for eve stuffs, more so if you've ever installed SiSi or other test servers, currently i have 10 different client folders that show up under the main "Eve" folder in that location.
