Perhaps they're training for deployments to W-space?

its called "we dotn want our lowbies opening their mouth because it inevitably gives us a bad rep for being assholes"

fact is, wehn ANYONE can say something, and be interpreted as the voice of an entity other than themselves, common courtesy, respect, and any sort of dignity go right out the window, leading to MANY groups getting a rep for pure trash talk, poor sportsmanship and racist/discrimatory behaviour.

its usually easier to tell people to shut the hell up than to try and educate them on whats appropriate.

there are other more game-related reasons aswell, but for most groups they at least mention my point as a valid reason.

Test Alliance Image Macros in local during The Mittani's Last Mistake (aka Fountain War) definitely demonstrate how badly letting people talk in local can be

Triggered by: Wars of Sovless Agression, Bending the Knee, Twisting the Knife, Eating Sov Wheaties, Bombless Bombers, Fizzlesov, Interceptor Fleets, Running Away, GhostTime Vuln, Renters, Bombs, Bubbles ?

Hello.

I'm a player with a medium level of combat experience in EVE, looking to get into fleet command.

However, I'm not sure what kind of nullsec group to join. I probably wouldn't join the "rus" coalition as I only speak English, so that leaves N3 or Goons for the major blocs.

From the picture the Mittani paints on his site, the Goonswarm have great camaraderie with their fellow alliance members.

Anyway, I'd like to ask, are Goons friendly to their (non main corp/something awful) members?

Just to be clear, you have already been a member of SA for at least 3 months right? And active?

Yes, if you meet their guidelines and follow their instructions they will take care of you. If you don't follow their instructions, they will pop you for the lols. In all, I enjoyed flying with goons. But it is not for the type of person that is offended easily. Lots NWS links and talk in mumble or fleet chat.

If you aren't an active 3 month SA member and want to fly with the Goons, seek admittance in a CFC member.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Iria, am I wrong in assuming that non Goonwaffe corps in the federation do not have a SA account requirement?

Yeah. Definitely join SA, talk about your desire to join Goonwaffe, and apply right at the 3 month mark. That'll be sure to get you in.

They do not, although Merch Industrial has a similar requirement but for Penny Arcade.

I'm not sure tbh. My alliance was part of CFC but I was never a Goon. I just know from reading their application page that it is a hard requirement. Flying with them is a total riot. They treat their own, and their friends well. Everyone else is a mark.

Of course, none of these people you see here are actual Goons. They're EVE players.

I'm very disappointed in the OP. Who and what Goons are is well-known. They have a very capable propaganda machine.

IF this is not a very bad and messed up recruitment post;

Goon philosophy boils down to this:

You are contraint by morality in real-life 24/7. So let it go in a virtual enviroment and be the awfull dude you want to be, but cant be in real-life.

So the proper answer is this: Either they're nice or they're goons. Nice goons are traitors to their cause and a disgrace to Goonswarm in general.

Now here's the really fun part: What better way to be a proper Goon then to be all nice first and "themselves" later?

What ever you do, don't fall for the whole "we need a security deposit of x amount" as this is a scam.

The hardest thing about goons is getting in legitamatly, you have 2 options:

1) Pay to join the SA forums and buy your way in after I think 6 months of membership - GG

2) have a friend in goons

Any other way is 99% likely to be a tarp and a scam attempt. Don't give any ISK/contract any assets/move any capitals to join.

Good Luck your going to need it!

If I pay a "friend" in goons instead of paying SA, will that work?

I never really knew much about "goons", but if this thread is anything to go by they've done an A+ mind **** on the people of Eve Online, down to having a whole mythology and secret initiations. Well played "goons".

I'll give you an example of the average goonfleet life.

You sign up to somethingawful, post, and keep posting in every thread not eve-related for 3 months or longer, you need to manage to do this without being banned, fyad is your best option. Eventually you'll apply to goonwaffe through the website, you'll sign up for a squad, and read the goonwaffe forums. Now you'll login to mumble, and listen to dabigredboat on comms, you'll make fun of him, tell him the only reason he has 20 eve accounts is to make up for his remaining 20 years left of life as a virgin.

Eventually you'll get kicked out, because dabigredboat will move you into the cap fleet channel & you'll be called a spy, all new players experience this, its normal. You'll join factions and make way more isk anyway.

Sure, the goons are great. Find one and he will offer to carry all your stuff to 00 and collect the fee for joining.

Such honesty, brevity and candor... have you given up tinfoil trolling for New Years Dinsdale?

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.
