Client freezing, sound issue related I think

Hi Everyone,

For some time now everything has worked perfectly for me in EVE. Maybe too perfectly, even after Rubicon was deployed everything was great. However, after the last patch that addressed sound issues I seem to be experiencing constant 'popping' 'crackling' and kind of static (not white noise) sounds when in combat. This happens every time, most noticeable when launchers are firing, or when there is incoming laser fire, although it also happens when vs any type of fire, or my own launchers are firing. Now as annoying as this is, it's not a show stopper, since it only really occurs in a fight. What has been a show stopper however is that since this has started, my client randomly freezes completely in missions, not just the client but the whole PC locks up entirely and I can't get task manager, alt+tab or anything, the only fix is to hard reboot the PC.

The first time this happened I was in a level 4 mission in bastion mode with my Golem and didn't have the shield repper running, yea stupid I know, lesson learned as I came back to a ship with just hull remaining, a scary moment.

I use a Logitech G930 headset, and I have researched the forums and tried basically everything I can find all to no avail. I have rolled back drivers, multiple times, I have updated to the latest drivers, I have moved the wireless dongle to other USB ports and all sorts, but the fact remains that everything was fine with the system and the game client until that last sound patch and then this trouble started.

I have submitted bug reports, but if anyone has any helpful advice, especially regarding the G930 it would be appreciated.

Edit - I have now dug my old headset out of retirement, a Razer megalodon and tried that. Seems to work fine, the sound isn't as clear and well defined as with the G930, which is the reason I switched in the first place but no crackling, popping or other issues, although the freezing is random, so I'll have to wait and see on that, but so far pretty stable. I suspect this is a driver issue with the G930 and EVE (weapon sounds?) for some reason, I'm a network guy, not a programmer, but I don't have any issue with the other games I play such as Diablo III, Skyrim, Mass Effect series etc..
