new crew directions?

I've got a crew of about 7 RL friends who want to get into Eve. We've cycled through a bunch of online games as a group and now Eve is next. They are actually attracted to the kill/be killed piranha tank culture of this universe so they're ready for anything.

I can bankroll just about anything we want to do, but what are some good skill/fit directions for a crew of this size? It needs to be flexible since not everyone is on all the time. I can cover armor logi/boosts but cross training that is not a problem.

start off with minmatar/shield/projectiles? armor/lasers? let everyone run crazy and kitchen sink it? Get into FW (which I've never done) or just join brave newbies on day 2?

looking for some good ideas to riff off of, not sure if this is the right forum for the question.

If they are starting new characters:
1) FW is the most friendly to low SP cheap ships (couple of frigs in a plex). They can potentially make money doing it as well. Plus you can get into cruisers (since you can bankroll it?) and a cruiser gang can be pretty scary.

2) Once your standings in empire space have you somewhat restricted. There is an otpion to go day tripping into wormholes, which is a good way to increase the profit and to find some very very random fights (or you could set up a POS and stay - but then you are going to be putting some time in). Of course you could just join a small or midsize FW, lowsec pirate corp, or the brave newbies have drop-bears which is their wormhole corp.

3) Yeah, I forgot about Brave Newbies - from what I understand - would be a good corp to find some fights with while hanging out with a bunch of other folk that are more interested in enjoying the game than accumulating vast amounts of wealth.

4) You could start your own corp, find highsec corps with low player counts that focus on industrial activities and war-dec them (50mil). That is, if tear harvesting is your cup of tea.

With 7 people even in frigs your only real hurdle is going to be coordinating a rookie fleet in combat ...and not getting blapped by a smart bombing battleship jumping gates in low.

Just my two cents.

For a little more ISK/Skills with the recent changes in Interceptors, doing roams in a full interceptor gang could be fun :)

Can't go wrong with bombers. For a bomb run, 7-8 is a basically an entire wave. One of the few ways a handful of low sp players can really make a difference in a big fight. Torp bombers can provide a lot of fun on top of that when there aren't enemy fleets to bomb.

hmmm I like the power frigate concept as a whole. I'll get the guys into a cheap SB fit and buy racks of em to lose while interceptors train up.

thanks!
