For the OP:

High-sec isn't the USA or Europe in terms of safety, crime prevention and/or general security.

Instead, think of high-sec in terms of Mexico or Columbia where cartels and/or rebel groups are/were willfully flouting the law, to put it mildly. On one hand, egregious criminal acts will bring down the Federales (think CONCORD.) However, outside of that, the law is pretty weak, especially if you're an individual.

Welllllll, no. I can't think of a single country where the cargo involved in a crime won't be confiscated by the police or other governmnt forces. The only difference being whether the owner will ever see it again or it walks away from the evidence locker. CONCORD is suposed to be 'self funded' but it walks away from confiscating all that loot? The people at CCP could not write a consistent or realistic backstory if someone paid them.

Sometimes it obviously takes some events to finally take decisions. I am playing EVE since 2008, just 1-2h per week as real life is still some kind of important :).

Now I just learned that a fully armored (2 shield extenders) Tayra with 600 MIO ISK freight (my ship and freight of course,) can be blown out of space in INARO (a 0.8 high sec system!!!!!) with just one shot from a 1400mm canon of some player playing EVE sind November this year.

How - for god's sake - can something like this happen in HIGH SEC space. I was even flying the route coming from Jita "in manual", meaning flying from gate to gate by clicking it myself. So NO autopilot. The moment my Tayra got visible because of warping to the next gate exploded, releasing my pod. The guy started shooting at my pod also but that moment I hit warp and was not destroyed.

But - again - how can this happen in HIGH SEC space? I think CCP could balance something like this. Anybody an idea?

Well - maybe off to Star Citizen in the near future, there I can at least blame loosing my ship on my bad flying skills :)

So you have played for 5 years and all those years you cunningly avoided reading forums and understanding basic dps/alpha<>ehp figures. You learned nothing... in 5 years... How does that happen?

And that's all we needed to know right there.

I've got a better idea than just leaving: Organize a freighter boycott of Jita. Eventually the kee-kee losers will get bored & leave, or the Goons will get mad that their favorite alt hangout went all ghost town on them and rub out all the kee-kee losers for you.

Heh. Malcanis being a reliable unbiased source of ganking data. The only reason he's a CSM is because you rigged the vote for him. This guy is a forum mod who likes to put down / humiliate people who post about being ganked and generally breaks all the forums rules he's supposed to be enforcing :)

Regarding the risk\reward system gankers use to pick targets, what is a ship/fit that they will leave alone no matter what cargo you are carrying? If I wanted to ferry BPO's worth a trillion ISK all around Jita, what would be the safest ship/fit? One that would survive anything a ganker would throw at me until Concord showed up?

This of course presumes that the ganker didn't know ahead of time about the BPO's, and was in whatever they use for ganking....

I'm not interested in your dodgy denials. We know the system is rigged. You don't have to be a genius to understand that a coalition of 35k will be able to stack the CSM with all of its members and only represent themselves rather than the actual people they're supposed to represent - the playerbase.

Ships are so cheap to buy and fit that there really is no ship that couldn't be alphaed or killed in a 0.5 or 0.6 by cats for that job. The only reasonable chance would be in a cov ops. I regularly transport multiple billions in blockade runners / covert frigs.

There are idiots killing freighters that are empty just for kicks...

No such thing. I suppose you could try something that would require a node-crashing amount of ships to gank, such as a capship, but you wouldn't be able to carry anything around in it since you can't change systems.

So instead, you just have to make sure that it's too much effort or too expensive to gank for what they get out of it, which generally means reducing the value of your haul.

Probably a blockade runner. Not that it withstands any kind of punishment, but it makes any kind of gank a gamble since they have no way of knowing what you're carrying. That in and of itself might be a red flag that you're worth going after, but on the other hand, BRs are very very tricky to catch if you fly them correctly.

Well you wouldn't believe it, but this guy is trying to tell me that ganking is exceedingly rare. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying it's out of control either, but it's a lot more common than you seem to think.

Based on a single data point? Yeah, no.

Based on, you know, knowing what other groups are doing. I could go & link everything I use on a week to week basis to show you otherwise, but apart from being a colossal waste of time... No, that's basically it.

actually, every single player was able to vote in the election, with each vote carrying equal weight

so in reality the playerbase voted for... the current csm, including malcanis

Since when did CSM member become forums mods? Oh right, you're that guy who also tried to tell us that making tens of billions per day is the standard income for nullsec line members.

Awesome. Seems like my issue - which happens to hundreds of players every day - was worth a 7 - page thread... not bad. Come on guys, let's go for more... ;)

Just kidding. Stop it. Please. (FORUM MOD, please close!!!)

To those asking why I didn't know that something like this could happen although I'm playing EVE for more then 5 years... Well, because it never happened to me before. Either I am extremely good (which I'm obviously not ;-) ) or I'm just not reading EVE forums every day and play 5-6hours a day. Shame on me. Let me just quit my job, quit with my gf and get rid of all those other things called real life... well, just a matter of priorities.

But this endless discussion here actually makes fun to follow and that somebody just put a bounty on me is hilarious. Looking forward to many more hours of EVE...

And now - let's go for 10 pages of threads... :)

PS: But not to forget those several people here that offered recommendations and help! Thanks for your effort and the time invested!

I really take issue with the fact that people who make threads can request them be closed.
Why does starting a conversation automatically give you the right to **** on everyone else who wants to participate if you don't like where it goes?
Quite frankly it's stupid.
