Hello,

Im wondering just how much time would it take to train a fresh new off grid booster alt from scratch?

And also, if its worth it to train for one or should i just grind isk and buy a toon?

Thank you

Cash out that fat Caldari LP and just buy a toon. Training all the relevant booster skills, specialist skills, and the booster ship itself takes a good while.

I wear my goggles at night.

Any spelling/grammatical errors come complimentary with my typing on a phone

Leadership specs to IV's will put you in the 4 to 5 million SP range

A command ship from scratch is about 90 days
A decent T3 will take 60 days

really broad estimate, not perfect remaps, etc is: 5 months

Oh Liam .. if only ... sadly im not the type of person to keep to each isk and i tend to blow it up on stupid things .. mostly ships .. so im afraid no fat lp saved up for me .

But thanks for the rough estimate guys , i might aswell save up the isk .

Depends if you plan to use it for PVP fleets, or only for PvE/Solo work.

For fleet boosting, you are very much expected to have the relevant spec to V, as well as Link Spec V, Relevant ship skill V, and Cybernetics V for your mindlink. If you were training for fleet boosting, do skirmish first, as they are usually the most in demand.

about 8 months in total - 1 concrete ship to perfect and perfect combat boosting skills (except Fleet Comman - it takes almost 40 days from 4 to 5, so sticking w/ 4 is resonable).

But alternatively, how much does a perfect booster cost on average in the character bazaar?

A booster alt will generally have 10m SP in leadership alone.
You then need the skills to fly the ship you desire (CS 5m or T3 3m) .
You will also need skills to fit your ship (~4-8m sp).

And by the time you train all this up, off grid boosters will be nerfed to be on-grid ships.

I think it took me maybe 8-9 months with a toon that was mapped for the leadership skills.

As Gizznitt also mentioned - Fitting skills, Hull skills etc etc will take extra time.
I already had many of those at a decent levels before starting to train that toon as a booster.
You also need Cybernetics V for the mindlinks.

I recommend only subbing any boost toon by the month incase CCP decide to move them ongrid.

From a FW/LowSec pilots perspective:
If they do go ongrid and CCP introduce a command Frigate and Cruiser then the toons will be worth keeping and remain useful.

Without new ships - you will be paying for toons that have to be ongrid but can not ever be ongrid in an FW plex. (Maybe one large plex a day at best will be the use)
Unsubbing the booster toon and saving $15 a month will be the best option for most eve players if they go ongrid.

Hasn't CCP stated numerous times that off grid boosting is going the way of the dodo bird at some point?

I started this toon as a "booster alt", but then just turned him into a regular combat toon after CCP announced they were changing BC to racials. I trained for roughly 5-6 months which got me about 5.6m SP into Leadership. That only has me at warfare link spec 5, skirm/siege warfare spec 5, leader 5, and armor/info warfare (not spec) to 4, and I think I got cybernetics 5 during that time.

Now, you could probably use those 30 day new player boost implants to get you 2m SP in your first month, but 2m SP will only get you leader 5, one of the warfare to 5, and one of the spec to 5.

edit: on second though... just use evemon to plan it and see exactly how long it will take. Durrr

That's actually pretty solid advice. We don't know when that change is coming - only that it is.
