I'm surprised that a complaint about "offensive player content" in EVE doesn't make a single mention of the n word to be quite honest.

Why do I have a feeling the 19 people who checked they found the review "helpful" where cheeky Eve players.

Besides, that rant made me want to play the game even more. Anyone else think the complaints that weren't all tinfoil hattery where mostly all good things anyway?

CCP should nerf 5 year old customer reviews.

I don't think an old review by someone who so obviously doesn't understand the rating system and how it (doesn't) apply to online content is going to damage EVE in the slightest. In fact, it probably helps it in this case... especially when people also look at the poor rating that was given to his rant and the multitude of comments pointing out the reviews multitude of mistaken assumptions.

The main mistaken assumption being that the things he observed somehow are at odds with the games ratings, and his obvious attempt to ignore all positive aspects of the game or community.

I don't know why CCP work so hard to keep that teen rating. They don't sell through traditional retail channels anymore.

It's fairly clear the review was written by someone with no real experience with online games. I hate to bring it up, but when I stopped playing Warcraft somewhere near the end of the last decade, pretty much every general chat channel was filled with the most vile, racist, ignorant, trollish, hateful garbage you can imagine. And plainly put, I consider it a game predominantly geared toward younger gamers. You find this in every online environment - FPS, MMO, limited multiplayer formats, coop formats, all of it.

"Your child" is the dead giveaway.

This is what modern society likes to call the "voice of the concerned parent", and whether the review itself is legitimate (in that the sentiment behind it is real) or not, this is very much what I would expect to hear (and often do hear) from people who have little to nothing to do with online interaction in competitive gaming environments.

Nah, OP didn't say anything about house prices, too much immigration, something that has been found to give you cancer or something that the evil BBC has been up to.
