Boosters are always used. They generally just are AFK or are the alt of someone in the main group. Its pretty common that the booster works for tips, and the FC will remind people to tip whatever when they leave fleet.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

Heh I see, if I threw a perfect booster with perfect command ship skills for every command ship what kind of tips could I expect to see? I'd assume being tipped pays much less than being in the actual fight but a perfect booster makes life not as crappy lol.

Boosting alts will be used in most Incursion Fleets but it will be rare for you to find an opportunity to make use of a character in that role. From my own experience, because the boosts are considered so important, FCs will normally begin with their boosting ships and will therefore have alts of their own (or go to characters in a community) to fill the role.
For HQ fleets the booster alts were being tipped one million per participant per site - a not overly significant portion of the fifteen (IIRC) mil payout for each fleet member (but, with thirty fleet members, sufficient to PLEX the alt and replace ganked boosting ships very easily at ~25 mil per site (there are always a few who neglect or refuse to tip)).

Make up fleets are less likely to have OGB but they are also far less likely to pay for the benefit at all.

In short, training up a link machine for Incursions is unlikely to pay off unless you can back it up with solid FCing and (through an oversupply of combat pilots) an ability to censure those who are unwilling to contribute.
