Would make it impossible to follow a ship in warp and thus negate the gameplay impact of the new warp speed changes, so I'm not really into it

I dunno. It's fairly obvious he warped to the sun. Maybe if there's a little persistence in the flashy warp trail thing. But to be honest if you're looking at it you should be able to see where he went. Like, you can't really tell where someone warps to when you're view is facing the wrong way either. Currently it's not 100% successful, you've got to be quick to catch it.

Whatever happened to Shatner's EVE toon?
I know for a fact he actually played, at one point...

I would instantly accept his application, just for the opportunity to hear a classic Shatner monologue the next time we mix it up with someone in game.

It would also be pretty cool to have a warp effect sort of like the ship Destiny from Stargate Universe.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

As kool as that show is and how unjust it was to have that kick-ass show cancelled if you mean the warp tunnel effect it is pretty shiney.

The problem with this is the following.

1: Although it may not look pretty, seeing a ship accelerating into warp allows you to see where they are going celestial wise. It gives you a good 2~3 seconds or more to track it which is critical for much of EVE's glorious PvP moments that everyone enjoys at one point or another.

2: With how the warp engines in EVE are designed, it does not appear we have the instant 0 to infinity acceleration. There is an acceleration curve, and it is NOT that sharp. Besides, that kind of effect is already in place for something it's more fit to, jumping. Jumping capitals (and in some ways gates) have a similar bubble (wormhole creation) and matter stream in the form of a similar stream of light. Doing this for warping too would confuse things too much and not really be very consistent.

TL;DR : OP has never seen a capital jump.

If it did the same thing coming out of warp too it would be perfect.

Agreed! This looks incredible!
Obviously the effect would need some minor twerking tweaking here and there to make it work. But, overall it looks really good!

Imaging if NPC had the same effect if they warped in one after the other in missions, belts... instead of just spawning on the spot. Smaller flashes for frigs, bigger ones for destroyers, cruisers, etc... would look Oh so nice! Big smile

The whole point is that EvE players like things that go BOOM! POW! whatever =o)

If my pilot is certain to face death... I want full ramming speed towards the enemy ship...
