Is there a way to complete this mission.. or did I screw up?

"This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings."
Id and Egonics, Inc. Objectives
kill, destroy, rescue

I warped to the area, destroyed all ships, took the jump gate destroyed almost all ships.... then I "discovered" the location, green check mark.. went to destroy last ship and it was harder than I expected...never rescued the slaves

It was late, something bad happened here at home and I had to quickly leave the area,
Came back today -less than 24hrs later - and the jump gate is gone.

I'm guessing that the slaves were in another ship not the last one.

Any way for me to complete?

You should petition a GM to reset that mission for you.

They can do that, and as long as you're not a serial offender I don't see that they'd knock you back. Just explain what happened, ask nicely, and make sure you keep in mind that you are basically asking for a favour.

Just as an aside, I did this with a similiar mission and was told by a gm who shall remain nameless that I was SOL.
Maybe you've done it more recently then I (This was probably early last year, ish) and got away with it but my experience says it's unlikely.

Regardless of that OP, you should check contracts/market for whatever item (ninjas usually steal these sorts of things)
With any luck, youll likely pay out your ass but you might not fail the mission.

Good luck.

Different people do different things. You were unlucky. Keep petitioning until someone reset it for you.

Whether a mission gets reset really depends on the circumstances involved. If the GM sees in his log (yeah, yeah) that someone took the mission item (ninja) you're SOL. If on the other hand the mission didn't reset properly after DT or might in some other way be bugged then you might get a reset.

If you have not completed* the mission and do not have the item, the mission should respawn at the next downtime.

If you have completed* the mission and do not have the item, the mission should not respawn at the next downtime.

*"completed" means performed a specific activity in space but have not yet turned it in to your agent.

However, if you are in scenario B, you can buy the item from contracts and use your purchased slaves to complete your mission.

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!

I went with the petition first, read all 5 replies couple times.
I told my story to him/her and included the (not told to you) that my ship was destroyed while I was away.

Old man ramblings advise you skip down to next paragraph.
I'm 58 yrs old and my son got me playing Eve, he's 22. We played WoW for 5-6 years and he ran out of time to play, he' going to college. Eve does not seem to take long (relatively speaking). That came out wrong.
I joined on the Buddy program..... wondering all along the trail period how I was liking it, helpful, friendly like. Just before I joined I found out from mutually known player from WoW that he stood to benefit nicely if I joined.... using me again... maybe it was payback for things I've done in games in the past.

ok skip that last part
I wrote a nicely worded, humble and HONESTLY of what I experienced.
told him been playing for 5 months and asked if the jump gate could be restored (never expected that to happen) or reset mission.
As always copy, paste in word spell check read over to make sure it flowed properly. Make changes ect. Put back into petition and read again slowly, I know what happened, he/she does not, need to be short (me "short" story?) and concise.
Did not ask for ship back.

Sent, Decided to do some other missions while I wait.
Ok restart Laptop first, log back on and I had mail from Haraila Taltadan inviting to do the story line mission.
Less than 5 minutes and was reset.

took me 12-15 minutes to write it and check it over

***New mission takes me into low sec 0.4 to low sec 0 .3
