EVE sound not stopping when game closes without PC restart

This id riving my goddamned nuts. When I close EVE the in game sounds continue to play. The only way I can get them to stop is to close my web browser, Google Chrome. if I reopen Chrome I get the EVE game sounds back. This has happened twice now, so rather curious if anyone else is having these problems.
