Look, no joking around here. You want hardcore?

CCP to implement "Highlander" system.

Kill someone... absorb their SP and ISK.

Death also results in permaban.

And in the end, there will be only one.

Contrary to my original assumption, dying in an alpha clone doesn't set you back to 900k sp.
I wish it did though. Sad

Keep trying though you'll soon get to 900k sp.

How about a Hardecore mode whereby if you die your character gets wiped and you start again from 900k sp or w/e it is you start at.

I always liked the idea of a "live fast die young" mode.

Imagine this: you can choose the SP learning rate of a char but with acceleration options whereby you can go with learning SP faster, but these "hyper accelerated super brains" cannot be cloned. You pop, that's it.

On further thought however, there would have to be SP caps lest everybody have a 100M SP indie alt in a year.

Were it "up to me" I would:

Accelerated Brain level: Acceleration rate: Cap:
1 20% 70M SP
2 40% 50M SP
3 50% 40M SP
4 60% 30M SP
5 70% 20M SP

And of course it would be best (as much as I hate KBs) to make it known on a killmail that you popped a "Level 5 superbrain".

But overall I think that such a feature would allow new players and vets alike to make a decision ahead of time. "You want to run with the big dogs NAOW and not put in the time? Fine - here are options but you die you're done!".

(There will still be tears though)

Edit: if we really want to laugh, make it so characters created with this option have huge bulbous heads and hence making them huge gank magnets. I can see it: "Hey we got a fathead in local".

This is an absolutely horrible idea. There's numerous ways you can abuse this to gain advantages on characters that would never get podded.

Hence the SP caps. You didn't read all of it. But yeah I'm sure with local in nullsec some players will know exactly when to dock up and avoid ever being podded for rarely ever being on the same grid with a non-blue... until that corp killer wanting a fathead on his KB joins up. Twisted

LOL - a "brainsucker" module - but make it so that you have to scoop the corpse! That'll be the end of disco BS on the gate and bomber-o-rama.

Hi fozzie, do you think that eve has moved too far into easymode over the last few years. If so do you and the other devs want to shake it up a bit.

I did read all of it. The SP caps are way too high. To be low enough for this not to be abused would also make this completely pointless.

Besides, it's not like one can't PVP in low or high without ever getting podded.

Agreed. Its a neat idea to give such a character an sp boost (and has been suggested before), but even a 2 million sp alt can be extremely beneficial in this game if skilled into trade or industry. Keep in mind that a maxed trade character is around 10mill sp.

Another approach to hardcore mode would be to make pods indestructible and useless for anything other than travel (only gates and station/pos on overview).

What?

Yes. No more using a clone vat as a respawn point. This isn't Modern Warfare. No more clone vat respawn then jump into a new ready ship to get back into the fight. Nope. You lose your ship you slowboat back home.

But I'm not finished.

All SHIP destruction wrecks implants randomly. No matter if it's PVP or NPC. Your ships blows, it's going to hurt your implants. No more crystal sets in highsec that never get "love". No nullsec alliances using clone vats as respawn points.

Eve will not be hardcore enough until only three or four players can actually play effectively.

Jeez, I sound like a pixel hard-man null-sec player.

This is not a signature.

You can play hardcore mode if you want.

Step 1: Got roam and fight.

Step 2: When you die delete your character.

See! Instant hardcore mode.

Go on, be a hero to your own cause.

Good one ... =D

To OP... stop learning skills when you get to 900.000 sp and never update your clone...

What do many of us think about your idea?

It's a really bad one.

Never update your medical clone.

You'll save isk on not upgrading clones to boot

EVE is the hardcore mode.
Really, think about what you're asking for. Not in terms of gameplay so much, but you're basically creating a new breed of elitist *******. Is that really what you want?

I think its a neat idea. Keep everything the same, but if you ever get podded, game over. As a perk they can have unique cosmetic portrait/avatar customization options and unique ship after effects (e.g. pink engine trails and whatnot).

This HC mode needs another server, and the population in the server might be quite low if it contains whole new eve area.
