CCP: Quit screwing with the scanning mechanics. Just stop it. It's ******* annoying.

Scanning is so easy and quick now compared to what it used to be that I don't understand the original poster's complaint.

We distinguish the excellent man from the common man by saying that the former is the one who makes great demands upon himself, and the latter who makes no demands on himself.

I think the OP needs a probing.

Get your technique right and practice. Soon you''ll be doing it without even thinking. Like riding a bike.

I probe almost daily with 5 probes and decent skills, no problem whatsoever. It USED to be rather ****, now it's almost convenient.

Under the old system - you could run into trouble if:

- Your probes were too close together
- They were on the same XYZ plane as another probe

(Think "interference patterns".)

So when we'd run into trouble in the old days, we'd wiggle a few of the probes up/down to get them off the same exactly Z level as the other probes. Which generally fixed the interference issues. But I'm not sure whether that game mechanic still exists.

im not sure . i have yet to seen a explanation for disappearing results . scan something down to 4 au its still there

scan down to 2 au its still there, drop down to .5 ... gone , come back to 1, gone ... come back to 2, gone ... wtf ..

go back to 4 there it is .. reposition there it is . repeat and watch it disappear again . recall probes go back to approximate area and scan down the result with no problem ..

as for the <99% results i see few peeps a month in exploration channel beating their heads aginst a wall trying to scan down what ever to no avail . its rare and it maybe PEBKAC but its something in the way the user is utilizing the probing system thats causing the issue .

align the probes in tetrahedron, octagon, irregular object, or the big dipper. i have seen enough weirdness to know that sometimes centering the probes around the object does not always give you 100% . i especially love how the irregular objects at certain times and alignments will give 100% at 4 au . but the same object will need to be scanned all the way down to .5 au if you use a popular pattern .

but regardless you have to really be spamming down sites/objects to come across this . the scan do a mission scan do a mission probably wont turn it up .

if you really want to see weirdness try and scan down all the pos in a system you will then see a great deal of flakiness .
