Versatility is better than 8 months ago.

Rails and beams aren't quite as bad as a before, making them a viable option even on a brawler.
Or you can go bawler brawler and take a mobile depot with you, refit on the fly which guns suit your target mid fight - assuming you can tank them long enough.
