Ship Mastery - Drones

Can we remove the need of every single racial drone skill from the mastery tree of ships that are not primarily drone boats? and only include the racial mastery of the drone type relative to the type of ship being flown for those that are not drone boats.

It just seems inconsistent / illogical to require ALL drone specialization skills for any ship that can throw a drone in its hold.

Take say drake... its not a drone boat. However it requires - Minmatar Drone Specialization - Gallente Drone Specialization - Amarr Drone Specialization - and Caldari Drone Specialization..... all at V for scout drones at lvl 5 mastery.

- If you set out to master a ship its racial ship command - its the racial guns / combinations - its the racial tanking. But NO wait you have to do ALL drones..... - inconsistency....

Now yes.. some of you will probably say mastery is only a guide and is pointless but I'm sure that there is more than a few people in this game that see it as an achievement to 'master a ship'

Or am I just being way to OCD about this? lol - Thoughts?

As far as I got the mastery system, it is just a guide to become better at this specific ship. If you feel fine with your skillset, then you don't have to train any further into that ships mastery.

Or do you just want that golden, shiny icon on that ship?

How about just ignoring the new "achievement" bullsh!t and going about your day, not worrying about useless "features."

This, i have mastery 0 on command ships despite having command ships 5 :P

This new mastery system is a joke much like certificates were, new players might get a kick out of it but us bitter vets look at it and just giggle :)

Mastery is nice to know certain things, but for most things, it's pretty much just an eye candy type of deal. No reason to get all fluffed up just because you don't have a certain ship @ Mastery V due to some skills you don't want to train.

No, WE can't.

Also, if you can't use 3 x useless ECM Hornets in your Navy Augoror at max skills, then you haven't mastered the ship to its fullest possible extent, have you?

TBH I tend to agree with you its not critical to the game at all, I only opened up the mastery tree today and noticed it. However I was just annoyed at the inconsistencies... Why add a FEATURE to Rubicon... and then go include something that dosnt belong/wrong.

And to all the forum warriors - Yay congrats you posted. you arnt bothered by it? good for you, now go post somewhere else. mmkay thanks.

I had a chat with a smacker in local. He had mastery 5. I had mastery 2. He lost. I won. He raged. I looted.

Point: Certificates and mastery mean nothing. Stop worrying about it and play the game :)

“Mastery” in the current system means exactly that. If your ship can sport drones, you haven't really mastered it if you haven't mastered drones, now have you? Blink

Because it's easier to add a ship or two and some other useless random UI crap and call it an "Expansion!" Rather than tackle real feature problems that the community has been asking for years...

I agree with the OP, there are some certificates that don't make sense. I know this is off topic but the Venture requires a propulsion jamming skill for a mastery level, it isn't even a combat ship and I know You don't need to webify an asteroid.

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

I agree with OP, current layout is lazy, sloppy work which does not reflect actual proficiency and has requirements that are plain unneccecary. Someone pointed out some Interceptor mastery requires you to be able to lock more targets then the actual ship is even able to! I mean thats plain bull**** and you know it CCP. Balance ISIS by removing these redundancies at the very least. Base levels of drone proficiency affecting non-specialized hull masteries... I sort of can live with that, but I still think it is sloppy.

EDIT: I do love the ISIS graphics and we were in need of a proper ship tree. Still glad to have it as a lookup tool.

ccp sees mastery v as an achievement only and not as a realistic goal

which is why you need every skill that might possibly affect the ship for mastery v

I would rather like to see CCP finally getting the drone values straight so that Amarr drones are not completely and Caldari drones are not mostly useless.

But hey, that´s just me, I guess some feature that has zero impact on actual gameplay takes priority....
