Quick Salvaging skill question?

Hey folks! I'm currently working my utility alt on Salvaging IV, but I sort of want to dive into running WH sites tonight. Will a salvaging implant be enough to allow the alt to salvage Sleeper BS wrecks while Salvaging IV is training, or does it have to be a rig?

Failing a definitive answer, I'll probably just leave the new utility ship unrigged 'til I'm in the hole, but knowing is half the battle. ;)

A noctis with 3 salvaging rigs and Salvaging III is definitely enough to salvage the wrecks. Might take longer if you're just using an un-rigged destroyer, but you should be able to with Salvage III.

Hmmm. Gotcha. What's your access chance with that? I assume you're using T1 salvage tackle rigs, with three you've got a compounded-and-nonpenalized effect, and 'salvage the wrecks' includes all Sleeper wrecks, including advanced BS wrecks?

Yes, 3 T1 rigs. I'm not sure of the exact salvage chance - I run up to C3 sites with that fit though, takes maybe 3 minutes to salvage a given site. And yes that includes BS wrecks.

you can salvage everything in a noctis with salvaging 3, however

this is unconfirmed, I have done no statistical study, etc., but in my experience, you get more salvage with t2 salvagers and salvage tackle rigs, that is, more nanoribbons

if nothing else, you salvage a lot faster and therefore spend less time being a vulnerable loot pinata

while salvaging V is a pain to train on your main, a utility alt (scout, noctis, cov ops, hacking, salvaging, scanning, pos gunner, etc.) will help you a lot in w-space in general, and is easily paid for in ISK as long as you're active

Consider it denied. Your skills do not affect the quality, amount, or type of salvage. It only increases the chances of each cycle succeeding. The effect is that it takes less time to salvage a site, thus increasing your isk/hr.

The only thing that higher levels of salvaging unlocks is access to T2 Salvagers at level 5, and the ability to salvage commander and higher level sleeper wrecks.

Hm. -Very- curious what the access difficulty number is with rigs, and what thresholds are required to access given wrecks. With the 5% implant and Salvaging III, a T1 Salvager has an access chance of 20% -- (equipment chance * skill level) + implant modifier. I'm assuming now that the rig functions much as the implant, netting an addition to salvaging chance. If so, 3 T1 rigs at salvaging III will net a salvaging probability of 45%.

I'm assuming that salvaging higher level sleeper/commander wrecks checks the access probability, not skill level? So once you hit the minimum level of access chance, whether through implants, rigs or skills, you're able to access all levels of wrecks.

I know I bring my noctis in WHs(no reward without risk) with all T2 rigs/mods and it cleans wrecks extremely fast, still does not guarantee nanoribbons though but speed is of the essence as you don't want to stick around, even if you have security backup. If there is a big risk, then we refit our site ships with salvagers (painfully slow)

salvage is determined when the wreck is made(just like loot) not when it is salvaged

That said salvage rigs speed up the process as does skills and implants(so long as it doesnt gimp your head by keeping a slot full that could be better utilized)

Oh, Do go on... no seriously ive got nothing better to do then listen to all the petty arguments and feeble trolling attempts...

The sad thing is i'm not sure if i'm telling the truth.
